Happy 25th Birthday Amiga
« on: July 24, 2010, 04:19:34 AM »
Happy B-Day Amiga!

You made almost all modern computers better but some of them did not learn everything you taught (looking at you Windows!).

Thanks for great times old and new. There would be no DiscreetFX and maybe no NewTek without you being created first.

Hottie® says have a piece of B-Day cake for her and enjoy your special day.

:)

Psst! There is something I have to tell you: "the cake is a lie!" - I have heared it from reliable sources.

Anyways: 25! Amiga still alive! All the best wishes for the next 25 years of friendly and amazing computing. May your librarys always open and may the narator.device tell a story of your animated and iconic life. Click all the windows with bad news to the background for a while and celebrate.

At first I was thinking - wow, despite the embarassing nature of that Doomy video, he actually has quite a decent voice.  He's singing very much in tune, etc.

But on listening closer, I am pretty darned sure there is some sort of auto-tuning software that has been applied.  Listen to the stepped sound on the voice during the transition between notes.  If you are familiar with this type of software than that trademark artifacting should be quite audible....sometimes it's used on purpose to make an artificial effect in pop songs.  In this case I think it just wasn't hidden well enough.
Music I've made using Amigas and other retro-instruments: http://theovoids.bandcamp.com

New story on suite101 covering the Amiga's 25th B-Day.

http://news.suite101.com/article.cfm/a-video-game-legend-the-commodore-amiga-is-25-years-old-a265312

Video Games Machine?  Ohh well....the fact that back then it did all the PC stuff faster and better than an IBM type PC didn't get a didn't really get a mention.

Happy Birthday Amiga.  One of my fondest memories was building animations in Dpaint late into the night in 1990 listening to Amarok by Mike Oldfield.  Ahhh, those were the days.
