A600HD with LCD32"

Hello everyone;
I started to use my A600HD with a new LCD 32" and the first impression is great! The definition is really good, not far than a monitor with RGB.
The only problem is that the colours flash a little, depending of the program I am using. Is there a solution for this?

I am guessing you are using the built in composite video out. Its not very good.

You could do better with something like the s-video adapter that AmigaManiac sells:

Plugs into the RGB out port and provides composite and a very high quality s-video. Far, far better image quality then composite video and close to RGB quality output.

I forgot to mention that the connection is with a high quality composite cable. My LCD is a Samsung serie 4 and, unfortunatly, doesn't have a S-video port, only for DVD (3 colours video, I don't know the name of this port), for PC (D-sub) and of course, the composite and HDMI ports as well.

Some LCD TVs do funny things with composite due to the additional processing that goes on before the video gets to the screen.  I've noticed less of this with s-video.

I have a 15" LCD monitor that the colors "flow" on in certain situations when using composite, almost like waves in water.

Composite is just a really, really shit video connection.

Perhaps wait for it to be finished and order one from him. Should be vastly superior video quality over composite.

I've been pretty happy with AmigaManiac's S-video solution, though RGB to component does sound nice, even though I've only got one screen in the house that could take advantage of it (though it won't do 50hz modes, kind of useless..)

I've noticed it more on static screens with color gradients/alot of dithering.  Never really bothered me much, given the disparity of the technologies I was combining (1980s with 2000s.)  If it bothered me enough, I've got a nice PAL/NTSC CRT sitting in the garage I could hook up... hey, that screen would look great with my black A500....

And what should he plug that Scart cable into?

His LCD doesn't have a Scart connection on it.


Besides Scart is just a connector standard that houses audio, RGB, s-video (luminance and Chrominance) and composite video. Just because a TV does have a Scart connector doesn't actually mean the seperate RGB lines are wired. Its totally possible to have a telly that only accepts s-video or composite over scart. I think some tvs with multiple Scart connectors do it this way. Primary is wired for everything and the additional ones are just composite or s-video.


With that being said, yes, an RGB scart connection would certainly be the best option, if he had it available.

He has a smaller 3.0 version of the adapter that just went on sale. I already ordered mine.
