Missing screenmodes in workbench?
« on: June 11, 2010, 04:05:41 PM »
Installed workbench 3.1 on my A1200 but I only seem to have the basic OCS screenmodes available for reason. What are some things to check for that might cause this?

Make sure SetPatch is running, and make sure Devs:Monitors is populated.

I think there was a similar issue that came up a number of months ago, turned out to be hardware related. Hopefully this isn't another case...

I'll check into that.

Everything else seems to work fine so Im hoping its not a hardware issue :(

EDIT: Well, huh. devs/monitors says it "cannot be opened"

There's your problem (probably). That's the error you get if there's a drawer icon but no actual drawer. Something's wrong with your installation - better run it again.

as an aside, how do I verify if setpatch is working?

For that matter, what does setpatch actually do ?

Open a shell window and enter setpatch. It will tell you whether it is already active and what it did.

alright so, setpatch is active and has done a pile of stuff. So I guess that part is okay

by the by... what files SHOULD I find in the devs/monitors drawer ? I've tried copying the ones from storage/monitors but other than modes for specific monitors, I dont seem to have much luck from that.

Am I missing something, or is my workbench disks wonky ?

If you got that message from workbench when double-clicking the drawer icon, it could be that the directory itself has been deleted but the .info file for it remains.
