Amiga SCSI back to PC??
« on: June 05, 2010, 05:06:32 AM »
Most of the posts I've found in the search deal with getting information either on a floppy or from the PC to the Amiga... in this case I'm looking for info for file transfer from the Amiga HD to the PC!

I have a co-worker who used to develop games for the Amiga, ST, etc., and still has his A3000 on the hard disks.  Does anyone have a recommendation for getting the information (source code) from the A3000 to a PC for backup?  Thanks!

Well if it's on a SCSI drive and you/he/she do not have a SCSI controller card on any PC then if you/he/she has a fully working A3000 then I recomend you to use Amiga explorer to copy it to PC.

Else you can allways buy a SCSI to IDE or a SCSI to USB converter or a SCSI controller card for a PC then pull it out with WinUAE.

If he/she got any intresting source code he/she like to share with us all I could give you a SCSI controller card for free if you pay the shipping.

The A3000 powers up, but doesn't display.  We had talked about simply using a PC SCSI card and hooking it up, but we weren't sure about possible incompatibilities or problems--such as endianess, if we wanted to transfer it and run it on WinUAE.

As far as source code goes, unfortunately, it's still copyrighted and he's still in the games industry (as am I), so that won't happen... but then again, I'm speaking for him.  :D

Also, on that note, I'm guessing the reverse would be true:  you could write your Amiga software on you PC to the HD on the Amiga by getting a SCSI card for the PC and dumping it over with WinUAE??
