3com ethernet card
« on: May 31, 2010, 09:08:10 PM »
Has anyone ever had a 3 com Ethernet card working in an Amiga with or without the bridge board?

I have the card and a 8088 bridgeboard i still have to figure out how to unpack the dms files for the bridgeboard (I have read some other threads for it)

I believe the 3com EtherLink III is recognized by show config, but I'm less then a noob when it comes to installing without any drivers.

I don't have miami or any other program that I know might possibly work with it.

I'm on a budget and looking for any tips tricks or reading I can do to make this work.

it won't be shown as an amiga board since only the x86 part of your bridgeboard is in contact with the ISA bus.

BTW, if you have 8MB installed on ZorroII you'll need to remove a pair of megabytes so bridgeboard works: ZorroII bus only has a space of 8MB and if you fill it with ram then there's no space for bridgeboard's 512KB of ram.

Search on aminet "etherbridge" and you'll find amiga SANA2 drivers. You'll also need to configure PC side properly using janus software. You'll also need to load 3com drivers in the MSDOS side and since it uses a 8088 you'll also need to configure your 3com to work in 8bit ISA mode.

I too have wanted to get the answer for that question. However I am rather disappointed to know that it couldn’t be shown in amiga board as only the x86 part of our bridgeboard is in close contact with ISA bus. It may seem very frustrating to any of those who are looking for the answer but this is the truth. I really hope Crumb is right about this. Please keep us updated as we might need a few more reasons as to why it could not happen!
