RTG Master
« on: November 24, 2003, 11:53:35 AM »
Hello,

I recently discovered the wonders that is RTG Master and decided to use it with the Genetic Species game (the add on exe). I managed to set it up (although the credits and movie at the beginning were out putting in AGA), the movie and credits happen before the RTG screen requester by the way. the rest of the game was outputting on Blizzardvision (8-bit mode). I thought it looked marvellous, but the only damper was the movie outputting on AGA, what overwise was a brilliant day. Anyone know how to sought this out, if possible.

Also what is the latest version of RTG Master, i downloaded the RTG user archive from Aminet, and i am gonna download rtgPIP.lha from Aminet as well.

Help would be much appreciated.

Bye!

The movie will always output on AGA. It's a cdxl. You can't fix this.

@Kenny R,

Ok thanks for that.

Is the user archive on Aminet the latest RTG Master?

rtgmaster is hopefully dead by now...

its slow and rather useless but still some games use it like Nightlong , Bubble heroes etc and with this you can get games like Genetic species to work in a rtg window, anyway i did notice one thing about it and that is that bubble heroes have a newer version of rtgmaster on the cd compared to the one on aminet..

rtg master did good back in the days but i dont like the idea of using it as a api like they did with nightlong , though nightlong aint that slow :)  so its ok on that one, but bubble heroes in rtg is slow...  AGA version roxx :)

cheers

Whats up with all the hate!

Yes, the version on Aminet is the most recent, and the last.

I wouldn't bother with rtgpip either - it's a great idea but only ever worked on P96. If you have a BVision I guess you use cybergraphx, so it won't work for you.

But at least you can still use rtgmaster stuff. It will eventually stop working with more modern graphics cards on Amiga PCI, AmigaONE and Pegasos because of endian problems.

there is a prog on aminet called RTGoesWarpOS. I never tried it myself but since you have a ppc card, why not give a shot in it ?

Hi!

The Endian problems were not a problem of rtgmaster, but of some applications (for example Nightlong). The docs recommend that you should provide data in the correct format for the graphics card used. Some programmers ignored this.

BTW: Yes, rtgmaster is dead. I did recently try out a rtgmaster program under OS 4 though :)
