OS 1.3 sysinfo
« on: May 01, 2010, 11:06:23 AM »
Hi All,

After about 13 years away from the Amiga I've just bought myself an old A2000HD to play with. The guy I bought it off knew nothing about the spec, from looking inside I think it may have been upgraded.

Is there a tool or util in workbench that I can use to check the system spec, something like sysinfo maybe? If so, where can find it?

I know it has 4 meg fast ram from the workbench screen and perfmon states a 68020 which I know isnt standard for an A2000 so I'm intreaged!!!

I cant believe how quick WB boots from the HD, takes about 10 seconds!!

Thanks
Amiga 500 user

Welcome back to Amiga!
Here's the program you are referring to, found on aminet:

To know the whole story though you'd be much better off opening up the case and having a good peek inside.

Trivia: I'm pretty sure the later A2000s were all upgraded. They had to stop because they were competing with the A3000s

Thanks for all your suggestions. Im going to try sysinfo tonight but Im guessing it has a commodore 2620 installed with a 68020 cpu and 4MB of ram.

In the future I'd like to upgrade the Amiga to 3.1 roms from the current 1.3, am I right in thinking the 2620 could cause a conflict? I'm sure I read this somewhere??

Isn't that the "A2500" version of the A2000?

I think its the 2500 that I have although the badge states Amiga 2000HD. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that the A2500's were never labelled as such??

I guess its possible the previous owner just upgraded it...Tonight will be the first chance I get to have a proper butchers on the inside so will have a look and check board numbers etc.

Took a look inside and I actually have an A2630!!! with 68030, FPU and 2MB of ram. Also the scsi card is the A2091 which has a standard 3.5" IDE attached too it, this also has 2Mb ram onboard.
Very pleased as I thought I was just buying a bog standard A2000.

Very nice! The A2500 came with either the 020 or 030.  I do have one here (in the USA) labeled as A2500 with the 030.

Oh yeah, the A2500's were labeled.  My uncle had an A2500 (020 I believe) so I have touched one. :)  I don't think they are that rare really.  At least in the US.
