Grave Injustice in the Amiga Community
« on: April 29, 2010, 01:52:03 PM »
A grave injustice has been going on in the Amiga community since February 2010!

It's a deep conspiracy that involves AROS and the discontinued project AmiZilla. The fact that AmiZilla died is bad enough but AROS should not dance on her grave. The evidence is clear and available for all to see on the internets. Please view below.

That's right my friends AROS dared to violate the sacred AmiZilla Classic Thong! We are investigating if this infringes on any IP but  have not completed our analysis.

And if you have not guessed it yet this light hearted news item is just a joke and a bit of fun. AROS has not done anything wrong and is a nice OS.

Here the word "thong" means something you put on your feet when you go to the beach, but I must admit the American interpretation of the word is much more interesting....

We call those things-on-the-feet "flip flops". I've been in computers too long... every time I hear that "Margaritaville" song and Buffet sings "I blew out my flip flop" I think "Well, better change that chip then" ;-)

I hardly think a steady soldering hand would be available after all those margaritas.

I find it rather amusing, actually, that when I was growing up those beachy sandals were "thongs."  It was only later in my days that "flip flops" seemed to become the ubiquitous nomenclature.  I used to hear about how sexy it was for girls to wear thongs to the beach, and was rather confused at first.  I was especially confused to hear about "thong underwear."  Then one day I became enlightened.

I always get a kick out of telling visiting Americans to be sure to take their thongs to the beach.  Sometimes I add that grandma will be wearing hers too...

Is this news?

I submitted a news item a few weeks ago about the fact that OctaMED Soundstudio development had sadly come to an end after all these years, but it wasn't deemed newsworthy enough to appear as news.

Pffffffffffft!!!!!

@persia

It must be a regional thing. I'm from California, and I call flip-flops thongs. It wasn't until Victoria's Secret and other lingerie designers mainstreamed the g-string and g-string-like underwear by calling them thong underwear that the moniker shifted. In most cases, though, the singular "thong" refers to underwear, and the plural "thongs" refers to flip-flops. Regardless, it's totally rad when a chick sporting both hits the beach. ("Totally rad" is canonical Californian. I'm from Northern California, so I would normally say "hella " instead, where could be "sweet," "cool," "fresh," "dope," or any other adjective colloquially synonymous with positively good. I also say "dude" a lot.)
