need some help identifying expansion boards
« on: April 19, 2010, 06:34:25 PM »
hi all ,
i have been given an amiga 500 to sell and it has some expansion boards fitted, i would be very grateful if anyone can tell me what they are and what they are worth.
the first board is a baseboard ram board but i am not sure of size and how to tell if it is working
the second board is fitted in the cpu socket and has a 3 way toggle switch wired to it
the 500 also had a roctec rochard 800c hard drive fitted how can i tell how much ram is built into this if any
i have tried googling to no avail so any info would be very helpful

You've got a cpu upgrade in there that alone should be worth a bit, up to $150.

It's similar to Rossmöller turbo but the PCB text on Rm is Tornado. 68000@14 MHz + optional FPU. Must be plain on/off switch.

Hi

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1001

[ quote ]

Max Ram:  4MB
Ram Type: DRAM Chips
FPU:  None
RTC:  Yes
Connection:  Trapdoor Slot

The baseboard is a two piece unit. The first part (top image) fits underneath the Gary chip (note CSG5719 Gary on the card). The second parts connected via a cable and sits in the trapdoor slot. The board which sits underneath the gary chip is necessary so that more than 512K of memory could be added via the trapdoor slot. The baseboards adds up to 4MB of additional memory.

No offence but did you only join this forum to get prices to pimp your warez on ebay after a lucky find rather than any actual long lost love for all things Amiga?

lol i hear what your saying, i may not be a die hard amiga fan hence me not knowing what the boards exactly were, but i used to always envy the amiga screenshots in zzap being the owner of a C64 back in the day :)
I have an amiga 1200 as well that i will use more often for gaming, so the 500 is surplus to my needs !

LoL fair enough, just wondered due to your post count.

I'm not 100% sure about that specific 2x speed 68000 CPU accelerator there but it may be possible that this unit can also be sold to earlier Atari ST owners as well as A2000/1000/1500 Amiga owners.

If you have an original 68000 for the A500 my advice is, if possible, remove the CPU accelerator and sell that separately.
