I will consider spilling if it won't go this time. I prefer not to say what is my reserve in case of snipping.

Wow it's been taken off AGAIN. Was some sort of breach of eBay rules according to my email, I certainly didn't see anything wrong. . .

It is a joke. 1st time it was clearly my fault as I mentioned that I will charge extra for paypal (with their unbelievable charges..) and I've got warned. After that I added extra note that I won't be charging anything extra.

Then item didn't sell and I relisted it. Unfortunatelly I forgot to remove that damn thing but I did it few minutes after I relisted the item with revise option on ebay but they removed my item.

I think I will split it this time, they charge so much and I'm afraid that I wont sell the whole set for a price which will be good enough for me.

Sorry all the people interested in that auction for that mess...

I didn't realise that you weren't allowed to charge extra for paypal actually.  I've never charged extra myself but to be honest I can understand why a seller would want to recover at least some of the cost because sometimes it can be quite significant indeed! Once your item starts getting into the hundreds of pounds the paypal charges can be really harsh.

I don't totally agree with the way ebay and paypal work.  I think their charges are unfair.  They must be absolutely RAKING it in I reckon!

Still, I do continue to use Ebay (it's just so convenient) so... I guess I should stop complaining.

You are absolutely right. They make such a big money on charging for everything but it seems to be so popular that there isn't really a big choice.

Ah well, will try again soon.

3.7% is the fees for paypal. Sometimes more if you are new to it(!)

And ebay takes a huge chunk too, so about 8% of the total is lost.

So what??. . .
Sure they rip you off a bit but at the end of the day, where else can you expose your sale items worldwide? I challenge you to talk it to some 2nd hand shop and see what cut they take. I sold Xbox 360 games not long ago for £2 each and I see them selling for £10+ as I speak.

So either you lose 10% of your total winnings, or 80%. . .

P.s. Not backing eBay or PayPal here but they seem to be the lesser of all evils.

@tokyoracer

I just find Ebay's charges a little steep, that's all.  They're obviously making an absolutely massive profit on their auction site - can you imagine how many millions of auctions go through Ebay in a week? And the vast majority of those will use paypal as well so it's a double-whammy.

Of course, I'm not saying that Ebay are not allowed to make big profits, they're entitled to that I guess, but there comes a point where you think to yourself... 'okay, they're just being a little bit too greedy now', and that's how I feel about Ebay myself to be honest.

Still, I do continue to use Ebay because as you correctly said it captures a massive audience of buyers and in that sense is the best way to sell your gear.  So, the fact that I continue to use them despite the charges means that I can't complain too much, but if someone said to me that they thought Ebay were a little bit too greedy with their charges, I'd have to say that I agree.
The Ebay/Paypal thing borders on a monopoly as well, I think.  There are other auction sites out there of course, but none of them can touch Ebay at the moment regardless of how reasonable their charges are or how good their auction site is because Ebay have captured the market.  It's a little bit like the situation the Amiga found itself in - we had the much better product and operating system, but Microsoft had the market, so it didn't matter how good the Amiga was.

That's my thoughts on it, anyway.
