I am looking for the cheapest scsi to ide converter
« on: April 08, 2010, 04:34:50 AM »
I am looking for the cheapest scsi to ide converter on the market for a BlizzardPPC, and so far I found the followin solution:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220565333127&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

but to use it I needed to convert 80 pins scsi to 50 pins with some device:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170450243764&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The question I have, is will I need additional cables or gender changers if I use this solution?
I have zero experience in using scsi with Amigas, so help would be apreciated

Those two things won't work. The first looks like it has no circuitry - perhaps someone made removable SCA-type IDE drives, but without real IDE to SCSI circuitry, it won't work. Furthermore, the two devices can't plug in to each other.

Acard work great, but are expensive. Other people on this site and on 68kmla.org have discussed other brands of adapters, and it seems that one brand is readily available on eBay for around $20. Just don't get either of the two things you listed above.

My friend Gulliver, the cheapest converters that can do the trick afaik are the "R-IDSC-E/R" ones.
I only know for sure that ACard, Yamaha and R-IDSC-E/R work on Amiga.
Visit my Amiga blog here
