Which brand 5.25 floppy drive for Catweasel?
« on: November 20, 2003, 01:08:17 PM »
Hey all! I got a Catweasel setup on my A2000 very easily. The only problem is it doesn't seem to like the brand 5.25 floppy drive I am using. I really thought it would have been a good choice! It's a Chinon 5.25 drive taken out of a C= PC-10. Maybe I'm missing something, but I doubt it. I think it probably doesnt like the brand.

What brands are tried and true for using with a CW? BTW I am now itching to build a full blown big box system again..

If I´m not mistaking, the drive has to spin in a specific rpm... Theres a bunch of docs on the disk that explains it... If I remember correctly... :)

It does? I read the 1541 docs and didn't see anything mentioning it, maybe I missed it or maybe it was on a different doc. I will check again, thanks for the lead:-)

From the Catweasel manual:

--------------------------

If you want to use a diskdrive on the Catweasel that is configured to work on the internal Amiga floppy-controller, check the following points:

1. diskchange must be available on pin 34
2. the drive must answer to the "Select 1" signal
3. 5,25" drives must spin at 360 RPM
