Right I have now removed the battery with the more professional way it was well ready for the bin and installed my old 4 way IDE board and a DVD rom from my old pc luckly I still had IDEFix97 still on the hard drive and it worked straight away. On having a read about I have also just ordered some new kickstart 3.1 roms ver 40.70 as it looks like that I am going to get hold of AMIGA OS3.9 for the time being. Got to admit its fun using it again I am well rusty with it lol.

40.68 3.1 roms are for the A4000D

Are you sure you have ordered the correct roms?

40.70 seem to be for the A4000T

I did not know they were compatible.. the 40.70 are missing workbench.library so will only boot disks with workbench.library installed already.. The 4000T 3.1 disks were different than 4000D versions.

Quick update: Well the Kickstart 3.1 Roms came today from ww.Amigakit.com that's well quick service only ordered yesterday at about 2pm!

Updated Workbench 3.1 4000T before replacing the roms Thanks for the info Bazzaq Powered up and after a couple of software failures messing around with the startup-sequence and reinstalling my Picasso IV software all booted up ok now.

Looking forward now to messing around with it and getting up to speed again.

Welcome back to the Amiga world!

Looks like you unpacked it just in time before the battery could do any damage, when I got my A1200 out of the loft last June the battery in the Ram expansion had already destroyed the ram board.

Anyway no looking back now I'm half way through an A1200 Tower project, this Amiga'in is adictive stuff once you get back into it!

Check out Classic Workbench, its a great up to date workbench with lots of interesting tools and apps pre installed, I run CWB ADV SP which has the nice Glow Icons and looks just like OS3.9 even though its running on WB 3.1.  Take a look http://classicwb.abime.net/

All the best & enjoy!

Steve.
