Artistic Licence:

"C or perl subroutines supplied by you and linked into this Package shall not be considered part of this Package."

What do C and perl have in common? Why are they not a part of this package?? If the whole package was in PEARL would it not be a part of it's own self?
I don't get it!!!

Um, the website is a collection of open source tools, libraries, and modules for UT.  You still need the main UT engine for them to work.

Licensing costs for the engine start in the tens of thousands.  You want UT, you raise the money, and you got it.
Try blazedmongers new Free Universal Computer kit, available with the GUI toolkit Your Own Universe, the popular IT edition, Extremely Reliable System for embedded work, Enhanced Database development and Wide Area Development system for telecommuting.

You know, seeing how LONG it has been and the amount of units sold per volume on both the PC and Mac, I'm suprised that Valve hasn't released it yet. I'm sure that many linux and amiga users would pay 39.99 for Half Life.

Seems to me that Valve plans on milking a dead cow, until the new cow is ripe and ready for distribution.

Maybe the best thing the Amiga needs is a powerful Mac PPC emulator that will let it run Mac software and Games properly. That way even Mac owners may end up buying the Amiga and running Mac under emulation than buying new Mac's.

Instead of a full blown power pc mac emulation, which would be quite a lot of work, perhaps an alternative would be to write a mac layer for amigaOS/MOS, similar in intent to WINE for Lunux x86.

That way you can get away with fudging only the critical resources needed to support these titles.

@mantisspider:
no, you would still need some kind of OpenGL wrapper for that mac emu (well, if the game isn't 3D or has software rendering it may work).

And about cpu speeds remember that Cyberstorm/Blizzards lack L2 cache.

@Karlos:
I think that an Emu would be easier because you don't have to keep your API wrapper version updated and emus already has been done various times (Sheepshaver, MOL in ppc... and Basilisk/Fusion/Shapeshifter in 68k) so the methods required to create them are well known.

Replicating the MacOS API would be more difficult because OS4 would need to be able to simulate every call and there are things that may not exist in OS4 yet. Anyway if that was done it would be great :-)

@Crumb

Just an idea :-) I suppose we can get away with MOL for A1 (and Peg?)  for now?

I was thinking that emulating PPC mac wasnt that straightforward, just because 680x0 emulation has been done to death. Look at the problems with the ppc version of fusion...
