I never use a ide multiplier but if you want to use a cd need software like cdfs of atapi.device.

Accelerators dont need any drivers and 68030 work native without adding libraries, i dont understand you, can you boot to workbench with the accelerator connected?

Is your hard disk detected upon startup?  I'm assuming you have an internal hard disk attached...so that should show up as DH0: or something similar in the Boot Menu.

I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but I'm pretty sure it is normal that your cd drive isn't shown in the boot menu...simply because it has no RDB and therefore your amiga can't read the filesystem.

You will need to install a cd filesystem though on your workbench such as this one:

http://aminet.net/disk/cdrom/AmiCDROM-1.15.lha

Just download and follow the instructions and you should be okay.

As for your problems with your Microbotics board, it's best to solve one problem at a time, therefore I suggest you remove the Microbotics board for the time being and install your cd-rom drive and get that working first...then move onto your board problem.

In answer to your other questions...No, a driver isn't required for your Microbotics board, and there is no need to upgrade your kickstart either....kickstart3.0 will be fine for anything.

Hope to have been some help.  Good luck.

Edit - you may possibly need IDEFIX...maybe some of the other members can enlighten you there, I use a FASTATA interface which is different and I have no knowledge of idefix.

A shot at the obvious first - You need a file system for the CD-ROM (ASIM CDFS or another) once that is installed, you should be ready to go.
The CD-ROM will not show up on the boot screen however - until you put a CD in it - then it will appear.
Does that help at all?

3.1 would be a plus - but 3.0 should work...

Since this card's RAM autoconfigs under OS 3.1, you may want to upgrade to the 3.1 ROMs. There are other advantages to the newer ROMs - money well spent IMHO

OK.... Just for information. In the DEVS:DOSDrivers drawer you should have CD0: This probably is in your storage at the moment. If you drag over it will load on boot. However in that file there is a mount list which you wont see from the information on the icon. If you get a text editor like CygnusED (CED) and open the file CD0: from the editor you will see two important things there... first the device name which in my case is 1230scsi.device and the Filesystem which in my case is L:AmiCDFS. ( In the L drawer ) I got mine with the Blizzard. In your case you will likely need atapi.device and CacheCDFS which I believe you get if you install IDEfix. Go to Aminet and download IDEfix and run... There is a tool for auto sensing the CD and it will set everything up for you. You will get an annoying popup saying that the software is unregistered every 30 mins. Not a problem.

And no CD will not show as an icon on the screen until you insert a CD. I leave a CD in all the time.

As to the accelerator... You don`t need a driver, though some accelerators have software support. Check the Amiga Resource site from Germany.. They often confirm if the card has software and usually you can download it.

You don't need the 3.1 ROM though if you upgrade to 3.9 which I would avoid without better RAM and graphics... you get better CD support and CacheCDFS. You need the CD to install OS3.9.

Hope that helps. CED is a great tool for checking all your icons on the Workbench. Also get up to speed with DOpus for file management and SnoopDOS to check ecactly what is going on with your Amiga.
