jkscsi.device
« on: November 18, 2003, 08:36:02 AM »
Hello, I have an external A500 scsi controller with Quantum LPS 52MB HD.
Thiis piece of hardware as no name, I have searched the net, and it is the same as item #8 in www.amiga-hardware.com Mistery Corner (actually some of the photos are mine).
It uses the jkscsi.device.
What I am looking for is some program that will be able to format and partition this HD.
Can anyone help me?
PS, I want to use it on a A500 rev 5 kickstart 1.2
Thanx
Fabrizio

Try and see if the HDToolBox on the A590/2091-installation disk works for you. It's 1.x compatible.

The installer's heaven

I think that hard disc controller is so old that it's devices don't understand RDB standard at all.. editing it with incompatible tools  may cause entire system become worse than it is..

I believe you need 1.3 rom for a hard drive.  It has been a long time since I pondered any thoughts about 1.2 - 1.3
If so, I several 1.3 rom in my chip drawer. Also, might be able to locate 1.3 disks.
How did you determine "jkscsi.device" as a driver?
Won\'t hide my location.
"I know if you have been good or bad!"

I meant to write more but forgot.. I meant to ask the OP to test to see if he can see the partitions with that hdtb.

Please check how www.l8r.net and www.amiga-hardware.com want driver submissions and submit them there for everyone's benefit!

Thanks!

@Fabrizio

Thanks for posting those pictures on amiga-hardware, because I thought for a while that I was the only chump with this model drive.

I already asked Sam Whiskey to send me the tools and if you too need a copy, just let me know.

I'm not sure if the drive will work on KS 1.2, as mine allways worked on 1.3
