Hello from Scotland
« on: March 07, 2010, 01:47:55 PM »
Was digging through my old computers the other day and came across my old A1200 (unused for a few years :o).

Anyway got to thinking this little beast could still do some work so decided to google for assistance (spare parts/help getting online etc) and came across this site.

Nice to see the Amiga is still alive and I hope to learn a few things and perhaps eventually contribute.

Long live Amiga :)

Welcome aboard! Yes, the Amiga is quite well and alive thanks to sites like this and support from members AND dealers. Lots of new hardware bits also to be had. USB for the A1200, Indivision flicker-fixers and scan-doublers, sound cards and CF<>IDE hard drive solutions abound.

Be sure to investigate WHDLoad too if you haven't already heard of it!

Welcome aboard. A cursory glance at the "tag cloud" thingymabob on the front page tends to suggest that we have a lot of discussion on the venerable A1200 here :D (sorry, I have to laugh at the whole tag cloud concept).

Seriously though, I'm confident that whatever questions you have, someone here will know the answer.

Cheers guy's

Main issue now (very minor for you lot I'm sure)...

A1200 boot's up from HD no problems, WB 3.0 disks (yes all 6) are good too...

Can I find the mouse though :( no chance.

So first step for me is getting a (preferably optical) mouse for meh wee beastie, it's been a while since I used mechanical mice but if that's the only option then sources please (and redirect me to the correct board as I know this is in the wrong place).

@wildfire

Try amigakit, they stock replacement mice and the like.

Of course, there are keyboard shortcuts for the mouse, but off the top of my head, I can't recall what they are :)

Cheers Karlos,

Looking now, the keyboard shortcuts aren't a problem (it's amazing what grey matter holds over the years :) ) but still a PITA with no mouse though.

Welcome to Amiga.org mate :)

If youre looking for a mouse, have a browse over on Amibay ( http://amibay.com/ ). Theres loads of people from the UK on there and they should be able to sort you out for a reasonable price :)
