How would it work? The 5 &1/4 PC floppy drive has no onboard floppy controller, it is handled by the CIAs which AFAIK do not support that format.

I may have to plug one in just to test your theory:-)

BTW: Aren't you the one making VICtim?

Too bad you don't have an Amiga with Zorro slots! I am quite impressed with the Catweasel S-Class on the test A2000 here!

Floppy reading and writing is controlled by Paula, which does support the GCR format used by the 1541. The only problem with reading 1541 disks on an Amiga is that the 1541 used different bit-rates depending on which track it was writing, which Paula doesn't support. However, if you adjust the speed of the drive down to about 280 rpm, Paula is able to read the entire disk.

Yup.

I might even get around to finishing it someday.

In case anyone is interested, I just listed an Amiga 1020 (5.25 drive) on eBay. Starting bid (as is the case on all my auctions) is $9.95.

It's not new, but it's as good as new. It was my buddy Rob's, he bought it when Commodore Canada closed, used it for a couple hours to transfer his C64 disks to the Amiga and then shoved it in a box and put it away. No BS.
If I have military spec stuff listed on eBay, you can find it here  :-)

@redrumloa

Is this Delfina Flipper better than the Prelude A1200 soundcard, and is it easy to install?

Well, as it would happen, last week I remembered that we have some old copies of the A64 package, an old C64 emulator from the 80s, with an accompanying IEC cable. So, thanks to Easy1541.lha from Aminet, I'm now happily writing D64 images, and taking naps in the meantime, since it's just deadly slow. =)

Sounds good, but how  do you slow down a 5,25" Amiga drive ??? I´ve got one here and also have 7 boxes of 64 floppies. Why buying a Catweasel and pc drive if a real Amiga drive can do the same thing ??
