DCE flicker-fixer for A1200 with LCD
« on: February 27, 2010, 03:11:25 PM »
Hello.

I have only managed to plug again my main and favorite towerized A1200 after i have moved to a new flat 18 months ago.
This miggy comes with internal DCE flicker-fixer for the PAL output and an Ateo Pixel64 card for the VGA output.
It used to be connected to a 19' Philips CRT monitor.

However, i have now only a 19' ASUS lcd left (with wide screen), and i get very crappy image quality from my flicker-fixer, with awful vertical lines: is this what we get with those old flicker-fixers on LCD? Is there any solution other that buying those new indivision AGA? I don't even mention my VGA output as it is complety out of range of my ASUS monitor, still configured for my old CRT monitor.

Thanks for your help.

That's normal with old scandoublers and LCDs unfortunately, you can try playing with your LCD's "clock" setting if it has one to make the lines less bad.  Tough to get rid of them though.

What LCD monitor you have can also make a huge difference. They can have vastly different quality of scalers in them, my LG LCD monitor is far far better than some other cheapo brand one I have and gives a much cleaner image. But still your unlikely to find one that beats a CRT monitor with your scandoubler. If I were you I'd source a CRT for now if you don't want to fork out on an indivision, you shouldn't have too much bother getting one dirt cheap, if not free.

Sure but unfortunately, i do not have room anymore for a big CRT monitor, and i have to share hardware between miggies and my PC on my desk.
Will surely buy an indivision as soon as i have cash for it. I will then cry after my now almost useless internal and external flicker-fixers.
