I post more over on Amigaworld.net.  I am this buyer.  I received the replacement CPU board but made ZERO difference.  Same green and yellow screens.  So, I message Joe of Soft Hut last night and he responded this AM and said he would check with his tech.

So, that is where it stands right now.

Disappointment it will not boot but keeping my head up about it.

If it's anything like my -dodgy DIY hackjob- pc, try completely dissasembling it, then cleaning every possible connection, even the ones you don't need, with a shirt or something clean. Paper towels works. I wouldn't surprised if that was all it was, just oxidation on the contacts.

whats the delivery time from amigakit in the UK normally??

I have found the turn around time to Canada very fast (once shipped). Normally, they ship Fed EX which takes 3 days to Canada. But, because Fed EX charges excessive "Boarder Fees" (nowhere near as bad as UPS, but enough to make you think twice about using them for shipping), I get them to ship regular Royal Post (post office) and that takes between a week and 10 days at the most (because Canada Post does not deliver mail on the weekends)
I have Amiga stuff for sale at http://amigalounge.com. You can follow my builds there also.

Dude got a new machine sent in from SoftHut, one that works.

He's learning the ropes.

First few weeks of using an amiga are HARD. Hope he doesn't get scared into dumping it on ebay.

So far I am having a good time.  Just been Soooo long since I did any command line stuff since I am a Mac head.  So, even figuring out I had to type lha_68040 e blahblahblah.lha to unstuff the files.  I sure am making a mess on one one 4GB partition though.  I need to read more and figure out better what command I can use for lha_68040 to make the files all unstuff in their own folder someplace.  If someone wants to give me that tip so I don't have to track it down.

So far so good.  Just al foreign to me never owning an Amiga.  Not like they have a real good Amiga For Dummies book although one would think after all these years since 1985 someone would have made a real good one.  :)  So far I have it booting OS 3.1 and have installed the hard drive and CD rom.  Boots from hard drive but I am still working on getting CD to work.  I did install the Cyberstorm today and nice having 82MB RAM.  Never thought I would say that.  82MB RAM.  Seems so small yet so big in world of old 1994 systems.

No plans today to dump it although after I play some with the Cyberstorm I installed today, come summer if that X1000 is out and I want to get it, I may part with my Cyberstorm/Cybervision combo to help pay for my addiction or maybe do a partial trade for cash + 68060 cpu board for my Cyberstorm setup.  We will see.

For now, I am having fun.  Confused, dazed, happy, and content.  What more can I ask for?
