Amigasociety,

Great video. You remaind surprisingly calm, I think I would have been in tears with joy.

I wonder how many magic packs AmigaKit have in stock and if any of them have suffered from leaky caps?
Amiga 4000, Warp Engine 040/40MHz, CV643D with scan doubler module, Tocatta soundcard, Deneb, 72Meg fast ram, 18 gig scsi hard drive.

I guess maybe if I was an Amigan from the 80s I may have but coming to this late in life, I guess the emotions to that level are not there.  But... I know a good thing when I see it and could not pass up owning a A4000T do did the deed.

Yes they all come with Magic pack cardboard box and packaging- the actual Magic Pack Software can be configured as an option for the package.  Here are some pictures of our computers we sell

Something I've been meaning to ask: On the build to order form, it has options for a copy of workbench 3.1 and a mouse at cost. Does this mean that the bog standard £99 one has had them taken out, or? If by default they ship with WB 3.0 and the mouse option is to buy a second, I guess that would make sense.

@RMK305

When we are assembling our Built To Order Amiga 1200 - the components are all thoroughly tested by our Technician before dispatch.  We then will guarantee our stock under the warranty.

It costs us if the item shipped is DOA and can discredit our business in terms of customer service.  We work very hard to ensure that the customer has no faults with their system when they receive their order.

@Hell Labs
You can configure some options to be NONE if you do not need them - please see the configure options at the bottom of the product to see what is provided: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=305#configure

@amigakit

I emailed you some time ago regarding some information on your capacitor replacement service for the A1200, but I don't recall receiving a reply.

Is the service available still?

Drat, if it went there it will have been deleted ages ago. Oh well, good to know the service is available. What's the rough turnaround time on that?

Some guy recently paid through the nose for a "new old stock" A4000T from SoftHut. He was so excited he filmed himself taking it out of the box and put the video up on youtube. Turned out it was dead on arrival.

Hi,

Anybody know how this turned out, SoftHut is usually excellent at making good any purchase that you made from them. I have purchased from them since the Amiga first came out and they were always an excellent dealer to deal with. The Amiga product especially towers and desktops with add on accelerators are well know for not functioning properly after being shipped, when I was a Commodore salesman I checked every Amiga I sold in front of the customer so he knew it worked before taking it home. I also showed and briefed him on what to do if it didn't work when he got it home.

I sold C64, C128, PC-10, PC-20, Amiga 1000's, Amiga 500's, and Amiga 2000's in San Francisco in the late 80's to the early 90's, and yes Apple's were the least sold, PC's were the most sold, except for the Amiga 500's were I received awards for selling the most computers (Amiga 500's of course) for three years in a row (1989-1992), the years I didn't win was because Commodore couldn't make shipments.

1st place -- Amiga 500
2nd place -- PC's
3rd place -- Apple II, and Mac's

I post more over on Amigaworld.net.  I am this buyer.  I received the replacement CPU board but made ZERO difference.  Same green and yellow screens.  So, I message Joe of Soft Hut last night and he responded this AM and said he would check with his tech.

So, that is where it stands right now.

Disappointment it will not boot but keeping my head up about it.

haha, no shit?

What are we gonna guess, capacitor leakage, or battery acid leakage? Atleast with the first kind of "my hardware is melting" you can rinse it off!

You know the A4000T doesn`t have the old barrel style battery.

If it's anything like my -dodgy DIY hackjob- pc, try completely dissasembling it, then cleaning every possible connection, even the ones you don't need, with a shirt or something clean. Paper towels works. I wouldn't surprised if that was all it was, just oxidation on the contacts.
