Cam install? You mean you don't do it yourself?

no.. too much work, too little time.  On my previous race car, I did alot of work on it.. I just got tired of doing my own work so I took it to a race shop up the street from my house and got a good deal on it.

Says the man from a country where both changing gear while driving in a streight line, and driving in a circle in identical cars count as motorsport. Seriously, American car enthusiasts should feel shame for nascar and drag racing.

EDIT: I'm also curious as to what you think needs "full disassembly of an engine". swapping cams is taking the cylinder heads off, and then putting them back on. And pretty much every time a car breaks down it's because X engine accessory broke, something that's usually easy to get to, or gasket failure which is also just taking the heads off, raplacing a sheet of cork, and putting it back on.

You're assuming that my car is stock.  It wasnt a stock cam install, it was actually a pretty high-lift/duration cam, had to check piston-to-valve clearance, replace valve springs to what the cam needed, check spring install height, check pushrod length.. and yes, on a C6 Corvette, its actually easier to do a cam install by removing the engine.  After that was done, it was dyno tuned.  I'm fixing to install nitrous on it though :)   This isnt a rinky-dink BMW with a blown headgasket.  LOL

As far as "american car enthusiats should feel shame" blah blah.. nobody cares, at least I dont.  I like drag racing, I like whatever racing is going on in your part of the world.  I dont like NASCAR.  I'm also into restored classic cars, any type of forced induction based vehicle (aftermarket installs)..anything that has to do with cars and horsepower.

Around here nothing after a C3 is even refered to as a Corvette, they're just Chevy's.

Anything before a C6 isnt acknowledged down here in Texas.

While we're on the subject of Texas I would like to thank all of Texas for giving the rest of the country George Bush.  We wouldn't be the same without him!  ;)

It's true, simplistic vehicles are easier to work on with basic tools and a little common sense. Complex repair of real cars however is simply not possible without a good education and thousands of dollars in special tools and service literature. Reconditioning heads on a V8 or V12 Mercedes for example is no joke to do properly. (Fortunately, cars are more reliable these days and usually go longer intervals before major repairs are needed.)

On a late model vehicle, try diagnosing a climate control fault without specialized diagnostic equipment. Not gonna happen. :)

My perspective on this comes from growing up in a family owned independent Benz garage.

Nascar sucks BTW. MotoGP FTW. :)

Ladies and gentlemen, this man thinks BMW fitted A-series engines to their cars.

For referance, The A-series is a British design used in cars for about fifty years.

@Damion: What do do define as a real car? It can't be mercedes, those toys have utterly terrible gearboxes. A choice between boringmatic and a manual designed by fred flintstone is no choice at all. Also, If I needed a new cylinder head I'd probably just buy one (parts are cheap for "real cars") rather than refurb it.

@tone007: We use the fuel taxes to pay for healthcare, that way people can actually get it. Also, our car companies aren't dense enough to think 25mpg is good. it's 40 or more.

Well, they certainly aren't spending any on education... It's ok, all the misspellings are cute and quirky, just like you.

...And you prove this by quoting a phrase full of random words I never said? Seriously.

Oh, you typed each one of those words in this very thread.  Go on, proofread it and correct them all.

Then go back and do the other 120-odd posts.

You know, five typos isn't a lot. Especially when using a brand new keyboard.

And you know there's a difference between typos and misspellings.

What must the Queen think of you butchering her English?!

I'm sure she'll forgive you, just be more careful in the future.  You're a representative of your country.
