The XGI Volari GFX Card - Coming Soon
« on: November 14, 2003, 02:36:25 AM »
It seems ATI and Nvidia may finally be getting some competition soon when  the new  XGI Volari hits the streets.  Seems they still have a little way to go on the drivers but all seems quite interesting...

Would be made even more interesting if OS4 drivers where being made for it to.  :-) nudge wink

Hello Downix,

I remember talking to you on IRC (dalnet?) a few years ago, you were talking about the Eddas chipset you were making... you had a lot of money borrowed.. how did that go? Anything to do with the photo that is your avatar?

(not that you would remeber that occasion buy my nick was probably glortzp)

Not a *lot* of money, but that's been repaid over the years.  (thank you again mom and grandpa)

And I cannot say how things are going at this point, because I don't want to create some kind of overanticipation and then a let-down when delays happen.  Better to show when it is running in FPGA.

As for *how* things went, I'm 1 person working on a design.  It went slowly.

Dude you're working on your own chipset? That's
really cool. Good luck with that.

@Downmix:

Is it a graphics-chipset or is it a system-chipset you are creating?

@patrik

Yes to both.

(BTW, my avatar is a picture of a POWER5 CPU and not related to Eddas)

@Downix

Any more to tell ? What's the goal of this chipset ? A hobby design (like the C-one) or something more serious ? Pegasos 3 ?  :-D
