Commodore A2091 to control IDE hard disk
« on: January 18, 2010, 10:28:55 PM »
Has anyone used the "built-in" IDE hard disk control on the A2091?

Strange thing is that I seem to have this A2091 with a 40-pin XT IDE drive mounted on it (but nowhere to plug in the cable).  Obviously, I'm not the original owner of this thing.

I remember reading that the port does work, if you can be bothered to solder a header onto the board.

I'm starting to miss IDE now that i've changed to the 3000...

Slightly off topic but, I still have the original 20MB XT (Western Digital?) hard drive that came with my A590 (same as A2091) and it works!

This one is a Conner 850 MB drive, model CFA850a.  It's an XT drive?

Hmmm, since there is no IDE connector on this A2091, I guess I should assume that the drive was using the board for power to the drive only.  Weird.

Prob just using the card as a mount.  Not much space for hard drives in the A2k.

(I actually did that in my A4k a few years back)
