Amiga 1000 Phoenix on eBay Oz..

Just noticed this on eBay... Looks to me like a Phoenix A1000 - by looking at the motherboard pic...

I wouldn't worry. I find retro Amiga stuff on the Australian EBay tends to go for stupid prices. It can be quite annoying when you are trying to get replacement parts to get your Amiga running better or even fixed

I was following that Phoenix board for a while when I kept seeing people bidding frivolously against each other, days before it ending. You just can't get a real deal on ePay anymore. Went for about what I thought it would though: $750au or $700us. I almost pulled the trigger, but that *is* a lot of money to sink into an A1000 case. And having just bought two A3000's CIB for less than $100 shipped (not ePay of course) - I decided to come to my senses and recognize a real value for what it is

...that was a replacement for the A1000's mobo and was desirable because it fixed the goofy Parallel port, had Kickstart in ROM, built in SCSI (I think), a CPU fast slot or video slot, 1MB Agnus (pal/ntsc switchable finally), more ram options, etc. I guess the board in question still only had a 68k native processor though - which was really befuddling at the time because the damn thing cost $1k in 1990! Refurbed and complete A3000's shortly after the Phoenix release were selling for $450-$750 from the likes of Grapevine Group and Software Hut.

How does the Phoenix compare to the Rejuvinator?  Which is better?  More desirable?

Phoenix blows away the Rejuvenator, but then again - it was roughly half the cost (there were two models actually). I currently only know 1 Rejuvenator user that has had 3 different Rejuvenators that were all bad due to battery leakage. Not the fault of the board per se, although they could have used lithium coin batteries instead. But, with the Rejuvenator, you use your original A1000 mobo... just the daughterboard gets replaced. That poses several problems right there. Mostly notably, the connection from the main CPU to the Rejuvenator. Ground problems and all that.

Red had one for sale that he couldn't get working right. I'm sure it was a combo of things, and come to think of it, wouldn't be surprised if this guy I know ended up with it. He lives in WA state if you're reading this Red...

I think it was me that bought ReDrum's.  I also have one other but I have never so much as tried to turn one on.  It is still down my list of projects.  I need to finish my A3000T project first.  My A2000 Bomac Tower project 2nd, and then get a couple of the 4 non-working A4000T's I have working.  I know very little about Rejuvinators.  The second one I had was in a homemade tower project which I took apart.  I plan on putting that Rejuvinator in a standard case.
