Did you right click the Icon on the Windows side and run the Setup?

I guess FTD (follow the directions) or FTFD in this case would have been appropriate.  Worked like a champ.  Thank you so much, mbueler!

I will also follow amyren's advice for copying data via a floppy from pc to Amiga as I would like to be able to do that (but haven't been able to).

I was hoping, for reliability, to replace the hard drives in the Amiga with a CF card. Now that I can transfer files, I will reread the forums on how to prep that card for the different partitions needed.

Thanks again!

I use ADF Sender on my laptop and transwarp on the Amiga.

All you need to get started is a Workbench disk with the "type" command (all should have that I believe).

The info is here:
http://adfsender.stoeggl.com/adfsenderterminal/methods.html

I used method A2 and it worked like a dream.

Some caveats for me at least.

I need to format the floppy on the Amiga first, or I get errors on the transfer.
I can't go over 19,200 BPS reliably.  Haven't tried it with the 1200 I just got, but that works for my 500.  (Could be my USB serial port on my laptop which is slow as well.)
(baudbandit.device didn't hurt, but didn't help either)
Use only DSDD floppies.  High Density might work if you cover the tab, but it's hit or miss...

For my 68000 Amigas using Cloanto's Amiga Explorer I replaced the serial.device with BaudBandit.device to be able to run @38400kbps.

On the A600 I'm using a Whippet, on the desktop A1200 an internal Port Plus Junior or a PCMCIA NIC or wifi.

On A2000 a PC bridgeboard and an ancient 3COM ISA Ethernet.

On the 1200T just the PCI ethernet. :D
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Using PCMCIA and amiga explorer here. Fast, but not always connecting the first time I run it. On the Amiga side you only need the Amiga Explorer executable. But like has been said, you need to edit its tooltypes first and match them with the settings on the pc side (most notably transfer rate and password).

The stuff that Cammy is suggesting should work fine, too. I guess that will be the easiest/fastest method.
Amiga 1200 (1d4) Kickstart 3.1 (40.68), Elbox Power/Winner tower (450w psu), BlizzardPPC 603e+ @240mhz & 060 @50mhz, 256MB, Bvision, IDE-fix Express, IndivisionAGA, 120GB IDE, cd, dvd, Cocolino, Micronik Keycase, PCMCIA Ethernet, Ratte monitor switcher, Prelude1200, triple boot WB3.1 / OS3.9 / OS4.1, Win95 / MacOS8.1

How well does that work with the ISA Ethernet in the A2000? I have a 286 Bridgeboard in my A2000... Are there any specific requirements for the ISA Ethernet card? Can you access PC drives from the Amiga, and visa versa? Can you get online with the Amiga?

I have a GVP 040 in my A2000, and it has a high speed serial port on it, so I'm using Amiga Exlorer at 115,200 right now. It's not horribly painful at that speed. But it's still too slow, and I don't like the fact that I can't access the PC drives from the Amiga.

I haven't tried connecting my A1200. I would love to get one of my Miggy's online...
A1000
A1200 - Indivision. Apollo 1240.
A2000 - GVP 040-16 meg, 2 meg chip, CD-RW, Flicker Fixer, Picasso II, 8 Up, 286 Bridgecard, OS 3.9
A2000HD #2 - 8 meg RAM, Genlock, Tower case

I found a null modem cable, but to my dismay my home built PC doesn't have serial or Parall ports because I never tought I'd use them.  Oh well, I'll look on Ebay...but the way thanks for the amiga forever tip, I got think client side for the pc I think.

I think they make USB to dbn-9 adapters, though a USB to rs-232 might be more convenient depending on how your null-modem is wired. (9-pin to 25 pin adapters are pretty cheap, Radio Shack used to have them). Also, if you wanted to upgrade that thing, the biggest probs. you might have are finding HD controllers and CPU upgrades. Memory could be an issue, too. Thrift shops otherwise have alot of older electronics that are compatible. St. Vincents not so much, but you get lucky sometimes. Goodwill is a better bet. (I once found an A500 w/ GVP SCSI sidecar at Vinnies!) As for transferring files, you will probably have to LHA the .adf file to xfer via floppy. The 500 can only read 720K  pc floppies, while ADF's are (I believe) uncompressed and will take 880K of space. zipitfast supports LHA in windows, the Amiga version of LHA is available on Aminet, I believe. You'll have to either use a DD floppy, or put scotch tape over the second hole in an HD foppy (which isn't terribly reliable, but should work fine for temporary purposes). PC-Side, you probably would have better luck using format via command prompt. (format a: /S720 would format a DD MS-Dos disk, especially if you use the scotch tape trick) Then you just need a proggy that dumps an adf file to df0: (with a blank disk in df0:, of course)

While I'm in the US, and really just north of the border, I'm also a considerable distance west. (I make cigarette runs to Orangeville all the time, as Wisconsin is taxing the HELL out of 'em up here) Probably not a convenient situation for running "sneakernet" (And I HATE driving in Chicago, anyway. My wife doesn't, but I lost my blindfold...)

Use PC2Amiga and a null modem cable
http://aminet.net/package.php?package=comm/misc/PC2Am308.lha

It works perfectly.

Good luck!!

Does this work with a modern Windows like W7? Anyone know.... ???

pc2amiga is best solution, way better than Amiga Explorer. but, IIRC it wouldn't work in windowsXP, let alone win7. perhaps it might work in some compatibility mode, or in win98 with virtualbox.
you can get excellent speeds with (custom) parallel cable. just make sure pinout is correct and keep in mind that some cable versions are not 'symmetrical'

oh, and it requires KS2+
Better sorry than worry.

I was going to suggest exactly that. I used it a lot.
I used a paralell cable instead of the null modem, it's faster (that is, less slower). But for now, try the null modem cable.
