I really need to invest in a MorphOS and AmigaOS4 machine. As much as I love my A4000, the noise of the cooling and size is winding me up.

More pressingly, I need a MacBook.

Don't have any purchases planned for the near future; however, I just purchased a new desktop a couple of weeks ago. Specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz
4GB DDR3-1333 RAM
Radeon HD 5770
32GB OCZ Vertex SSD (boot drive)
500GB WD Caviar Green (storage)
LG DVD burner with dual layer support
Windows 7 OEM and Ubuntu 9.10 dual boot

Cost me just over $900 including shipping from NewEgg. Only takes 15 seconds from the time I select Windows 7 from the GRUB until I have a login screen, even less from Ubuntu.

If a NAS counts as a computer that'll be my next investment, either a two bay or a four bay Synology. My current DS108j is filled to the point of breach with b/w Sci-Fi movies.

In case the NAS does not count as a computer then it'll probably either be the newly announced X1000 or some upgrade kit for my PC.

I've got too many computers as it is.  I mainly use an Intel Mac Mini which runs VirtualBox for the Linux x86 and presumably hosted AROS in addition to MacOSX 10.5.8, a laptop which my sister uses which runs a Linux/WinXP dual-boot, I have an A1200 with '030 accelerator and SCSI kit, my MicroA1-c is loaned out to another developer for AmigaOS 4.x capabilities, and I have a PowerMac G4 eagerly awaiting MorphOS.

It's safe to say my next purchase will just be an upgrade.  Whether that will be MacOSX 10.6.x on the Mini or MorphOS on the PowerMac G4, I don't know.  I eagerly await having my Micro A1-c back but I doubt I'll get a newer AmigaOne or a SAM440 since I've hardly used the Micro since I got it (primarily for use as a developer box).

Entered desktop PC but am actually looking for a quad core rack mount server to go in my garage rack for a project I'm working on, it must have lights out management so I can switch it on when needed without going out to garage and getting cold.

God I'm lazy 8)

Hey MskoDestny, how does Icaros Live run on your new PC? Must be pretty fast, have you tried the LiveDVD?

What I love about those Icaros (Aros) LiveDVDs is they'll boot up into the fully set up Amiga Operating System from a disc, and if you like it you simply use the installer and it's added to your GRUB menu. :)

I've already got my A1600 Aros/Ubuntu netbook and I'm happy with it, so there's no need for me to ever buy another PC (this was my first, and luckily it came without Windows so it was dirt cheap).

If there was an option for Mac Mini or G4 iBook I'd have chosen that option maybe, since I'd love nothing more than to be running MorphOS as my main OS, but I also plan on purchasing one of those New-Old-Stock NTSC CD32s from China before they all run out, so I clicked the Amiga option.

I have no interest in phones, PCs, or current generation consoles. But my interest in Amigas seems to grow every day. One of those new X1000s would be a dream machine, provided OS4 gets up to scratch on it.

Hopefully an X1000 if it's affordable, otherwise perhaps a Sam (hoping there will be some used ones up for sale by the time I've saved the money).

X1000 if it's affordable...otherwise I'll stick with my Pegasos II for my OS4.x+ and MorphOS needs. The SAM is not an option to me... PC, already got a nice SLi Toshiba laptop with CUDA support...

Cheers,

Finding a good "Computer" is hard these days, should it include the cost of a work permit ? ;)

minimig and then later on an amiga 1200

Got a new desktop computer a few months ago, and that should see me fine for the next few years

Would love to get an X1000 but lets see where that goes.
