Indivision ECS!
« on: January 05, 2010, 10:42:52 PM »
So I finally was able to get my Indivision ECS I bought at Amiwest last year into a ECS machine.  I was able to get a A500 6A with ICD Adram 540.  I put the Indivision ECS on it.  It worked GREAT!  It was like rediscovering the Amiga all over again.  Nice clear display, no interlace, no 1084, no monitor issues.  It was amazing.

I got 3.1 roms and a Supra 500XP with 2 megs of fast and AMAB5 rom with a SCSI drive.  I installed 3.1 and then got Paranet working with my A4000 and A500 to transfer data over.  It was great! I added a PAL/NTSC switch and got the 1Meg of CHIP recognized and did a few mods with the ICD board for 1 meg chip upgrade.

I then installed HIGHGFX on the machine. I was not expecting much but it is GREAT. 1024x768 on ECS machine (no super denise needed with Indivision) with 4 colors works great and is not too slow for workbench!

I can't believe how nice it is to use the machine like this.  I threw a few of my WHD games on the system and DPAINT and other programs.  Paranet makes it possible to get data from the A4000 (that has deneb and internet) to the A500 very easily without floppies or CD-ROMs.

BYE BYE 1084!

Awesome! Always love to see this level of excitement about legacy Amiga goodies. I have yet to purchase one for my machines, but would like to sometime. I do have a plethora of 1080's/1084's, but... :lol:

@save2600

Which SCSI to IDE adapter do you have? I would like to use a CF card instead of a unknown Quantum HD I have now.

It was something I got off ePay ($30-$40) and has the 50 pin SCSI input and the regular 3-1/2" IDE output. Just solder holes for the 2.5" option. Works like a charm once terminated properly.

Yep thank God for new HW, if it wasn't for the IndivisionAGA I wouldn't have even brought my first Amiga.
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

Nice Ports on AmiNet!
