Anyway, as a cautionary note, let's not "over" speculate what this hardware is or it will inevitably end in disappointment when your SMP dual Cell CPU based box with integrated FPGA-based AAA chipset support fails to arrive.

So far, I see a supposedly PPC motherboard with PCI Express, Legacy PCI, USB, Ethernet and SATA. All of which is good to have. Anything else at this stage is a bonus.

How about some Zorro 3 breakout board for all those old bits of hardware lying around? Not remotely likely, of course, it would seem a bit pointless when most of the cards you could get are readily replaced with the onboard hardware or cheap PCI boards.

Steady on now, we don't even know exactly what this board is yet. Anyway, 2010 seems equally exciting for MorphOS anyway, judging by the progress they are making with the PPC Mac platform.

Although it would indeed be nice to have a newish system that does both (granted Pegasos-II does already, but I imagine it has the same problem as the A1 as far as finding suitable expansion boards goes).

It's PowerPC, 4 x SATA, two PCIe x16, three PCIe x1, two legacy PCI 33 Mhz, 8 x USB, Gigabit Ethernet, 'at least' 4GB RAM, Xorro, and Xena

I must admit that I'd written OS4 off completely, but this brings some energy into the competition between morphos and os4 again. In a good way mind you, not borish flame.

But real neck to neck running again.

Rouge on OS for the A-EON:
"Guess".

So my guess is OS4.x

It says on the board:
"AmigaOne Powe..."

I bet it finishes of as "red", making it "AmigaOne Powered"

The AmigaOne brand is AmigaOS4 PPC compatible.

So in my opinion it leaves the following questions:
-What flavour PPC CPU?
-What is Xena?
-What can we use Xorro for?

And less importantly I'm ashamed to say:
-What does it cost?

Hmmmm....  I think the price is actually the most important thing.

I mean, if this costs ten grand then they`re only going to sell 1 of them to Steve Jobs.   If it costs about £300 then it`s the best thing that's happened since the announcement of the original A1200.

I bet it's nowhere near £300.
