Hi,
I'm looking for card in above mentioned config.
Reason:
I would like to test possibility to change the PPC processor to 300MHz version.
Europe vendors preferred.
Regards, Stan

there's no need to test,it will work ( both processors ).

did you fix the PPC on the Cyberstorm PPC?. if so what was the problem?

I know.
My target was to upgrade PPC procesor (un-solder old one and solder new) just to check my soldering skills :)
Now it's done:

http://picasaweb.google.pl/stacho100/BlizzardPPC_06066MHzPPC300MHz#

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewuwDs6QNgM

Initially this card was 040@25MHz/PPC@160MHz with bus speed 50MHz for PPC processor (lowest config posible).

Now it's the best config possible:
060@66MHz/PPC@300MHz with 60MHz PPC bus speed :)

060 CPU and 060 oscillator are socketed just in case (some BVision cards refuse to work on 66MHz).

I tried this PPC processor to work with 66MHz bus speed, but cards hung-up after 2 minutes; so I was forced to set 60MHz oscillator for PPC with x5 clock multiplier.

Just missing the heatsink+clips+5Vfan for PPC processor; I bought this card without it.
If you have it as spare I'm ready to buy ;)

Geez. I thought this was impossible... not even amigacenter can do it!

Maybe you can help many amigans with dead ppc's on their boards.

How much would you charge for an upgrade job of a low end bppc or an overclocking job?

I guess you use professional tools to do this.. right?

Absolutely awesome!

Cheers,

WOW! Great job!!!!!!

You should consider on helping others to fix their Blizzard cards for a fair price.
Your work can be considered a piece of art.

There's a PPC/040 A1200 card on ebay with issues. It only works when held in a certain position.

Now it's the best config possible:
060@66MHz/PPC@300MHz with 60MHz PPC bus speed :)

that all depends if your into overclocking the PPC processor.

NOTE: that in this mode the speed of the PPC processor will not show up in OS4.0 did not check OS3.9 the fault seems to be in the BlizzardPPC firmware (possible new flashupdate needed)

here i have simms that go as low as 43ns which allows 82Mhz+ bus (ram settings free config all turned off) but the bus speed has reached 83.66Mhz (43ns simm)and sets a new world record for a A1200, its about 2 sec quicker than my standard PPC 320Mhz (80Mhz osc ) 060@70Mhz. (45ns simms)

this new speed you are going to find that there is a very small number of Bvision that shows errors or lock-up the system which i have partly solved with my latest modifcation, this also improves overclocking the Bvision under OS3.9.

how fast the bus speed will go will also depends on what revision of the A1200 motherboard you have, this is why i have a Blizzard with both processors clocked at a set speed,i done this in order to try and find out what the problem is,but it will take time to find out what the problem is with some revision of A1200 motherboard.

with my ever improving blizzard my focus is to make the card very stable, and it is very stable no lock-ups as i find this very important as well as timing issues, and must pass 24hrs test.

WARNING! with extreme speed you must have the correct cooling (mandatory) if you fail to add the correct cooling you will damage the card.

@delshay
So, which A1200 revision motherboard is best suited for this kind of extreme overclocking experiences?

the question is where did i get PPC 740 500Mhz (my next project)

dont think so, Blizzard will be slower than 233Mhz cyberstorm, but if you have a cyberstorm 233Mhz do a FFTdemo and upload to the correct thread on another amiga website.

speed test Blizzard vs Cyberstorm

need test of Cyberstorm 233 to overcome Blizzard. also look at last page to see inproved result with increased speed.

@delshay,

Everything you wrote is true.
What I wanted to do is to make an upgrade/repair for polish Amiga community; that is why I've ordered bigger batch at one shot.
And hopefully for me I wasn't cheated.

With concerns timing and memory:

Well, I've checked this particular card with 60ns standard SIMM.
I have 64MB 50ns SIMM as well (from some old SCSI controller), but to be honest my target was to do this upgrade/repair for people with standard SIMM's available on the market even scarifying performance.

Maybe with better (faster) SIMM's the card might work ok with both 66MHz oscillators, or even 70MHz; who know?

My intention was not to create "super card", but to resurrect broken cards and for PPC@160Mhz users to give them a chance for upgrade at reasonable cost.

by the way:
Your project to install 740 500MHz CPU on the Blizzard PPC is really impressive!
In this case my card is not the best config; your is.
