Compression tool?
« on: November 12, 2003, 11:25:44 PM »
Is there an all-in-one tool such as Unarc, but with compression in mind and not uncompression only? 68k, PPC, anything?

What's the best and most easiest way to go about it? Not that I don't know how to use LHA, LZX, etc. executables, but I really need a faster method, such as WinZip or WinRar on PeeCee.

I fear that the only way is to download GUI programs that seek executables (LHA, LZX, etc.) from the C: dir. If so, which one is the best to go for?

Lotsa questions... :-)

What formats does it support for compression/uncompression? Is there a PPC engine for it or 68k only?

Yep.

I write some amiga software, and my least favourite thing (maybe installer is a close second) is to create the file archive. I never get it right the first time, and I've been using lha for 10 years!

For simply extracting/viewing archives, VoodooX is pretty dam nifty (as long as you dont mind MUI interfaces).

Seriously, though, as soon as I'm done with Streamer2's MP3 ripper, I'm starting on this. Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to just get an LHA archiver working. If nobody else benefits from it, I certainly will!
