Recycling hardware?
« on: November 12, 2003, 11:04:37 PM »
Im not sure if this is the right forum for this but here goes... :nervous:

Does anybody know anywhere or anyway of getting shot of old hardware? Im talking specifically about old (i.e. broken) monitors, hard drives, graphics cards and the like. Im am fairly environmentally consciuos, so i was wondering if there is nayway it can be recycled, or if it possible to just take it along to the local tip and dump it there. Any ideas greatfully appriciated.  :-?    :-)

There are specialized computer recyclers out there.  I use them for finding rare parts that I need all of the time.
Try blazedmongers new Free Universal Computer kit, available with the GUI toolkit Your Own Universe, the popular IT edition, Extremely Reliable System for embedded work, Enhanced Database development and Wide Area Development system for telecommuting.

Ask your local council?  There aren't any nationwide policies I'm aware of, there might be some local ones.

Well, there's rulers made from recycled computer printers here, so someone must be doing it... :-)
