For promotion reasons. It would be very nice if some company or person could give AmigaWorld a 68060 board for our Amiga 1200.

The Amiga will be used at a university here in Oslo for promotioning Amiga thru SCALA and more.

A 68060 card is quite expensive.  Maybe you should start a paypal fund and then people could donate a few $$$ each to help pay for the board?  This is more likely to succeed than asking for a whole board from one person.

Whats a 68060? Is that a calibur of gun?

Well... I want to demonstrate the power of Amiga. So taking a 060 A1200, connect it somewhere and just start talking about it

A1200 PPC computer would be sooo great, if someone made it. Dont you think so? With Amiga mouse and joystick ports.

other than keeping an eye on ebay or amibench,
i think the donations idea is best... afterall, an 060 card is a 100quid of anyones cash, and unless anyone is either mega rich, (or mega stupid) then its not gonna happen... :-P

darksun:i take that as an insult , you just called me mega stupid! , i donated away all my hw which i didnt use , and it goes like this..

zorro2i card for a1200 , 060 blizzard , scsi controller for blizzard , 256mb ram , and so on.
040 210 ppc , 040 240ppc with bvision and another bvision. , the list is long... and there was heaps more.

i donated it to people who would use it and is thrusted to make use of it, i did it and i encourage others to do so also if they have stuff in the closet which they wont ever touch again.

anyway they was and still is close friends, but then again maybe i am megastupid, i could have sold it to people who could afford it and let them who didnt have money just move to pc or something else..

oh yes and i aint rich, just spend my money on what i want, and i never sell stuff , just trade it away for something i need...if i need something.

Wouldnt it be easier to buy an AmigaOne or get Eyetech to donate an AmigaOne than to find someone willing enough to give you an 68060... and besides, the A1 runs a nicer/updated version of the OS...

Or do you want it to show what the old hardware could do compared to todays machines?

They are still worth alot maybe you might be able to get an 030 for free but an 060 i reckon you would have to pay for. :-)

Hmm. I think this type of thingwould be cool if it would happen more often. Thing is you want to make the best impression possible. Going PPC is the best option. At least a Blizzard PPC board for you A1200, or an AmigaOne. Problem with this is that they cost serious cash. Also OS4 will kick OS3.9 (or below) in the face with very large shoes and put ice down its vest. Showing off doesn`t just mean putting on a slide show. They would really like to see a nice OS with lots of stuff, which looks nice and does nice stuff.....nicely. :-)

An 060 would be able to give quite a good impression, but just as long as you can pursuade the sceptics that this is FAR FAR away from the best Amiga hardware and software available, then you could still give an impression of sorts.

I know what you mean though. We do need to get mouths moving. :-)

sometimes you're so used to being on a limited budget, you can't imagine giving anything away, let alown something as good as an 060 card. never mind advising someone else to do what i wouldn't given the situation and the hardware involved....

mind you, i can see where you are comming from, better to have it used for what it was designed for than let it gather dust in a loft somewhere. my problem is , that all my amiga owning friends have moved onto the PC. sure if there is anything anyone wants like ram modules, or stuff, and someone has it laying around then sure.

only ment to say i agreed with the donations thing and would chip in myself. but hey.
