Hello from Durham, UK
« on: November 26, 2009, 05:29:37 AM »
Hi all,

I'm getting back into the Amiga big time. Back in the early 90s I had an A500, which I upgraded with the 1/2meg trapdoor expansion, and a 3meg DMA expansion (this was a huge metal brick on the side).

I was a master of AmigaDOS and was a trouble shooter at my local Amiga club. Then I did the unforgivable and got a 486PC. :insane:

However, I have once again come to my senses and got me an A1200 with HDD and a 4meg expansion. I'm looking for a Blizzard or similar expansion for it and will be investing in WHDLoad over the weekend. I'm using a PCMCIA-CF adapter to get the software onto floppies. I also have an A500 on the way.

Well, got to go to work now to help pay for my re-found hobby :roflmao:

Pete.

I'm down in Durham quite a lot when I'm visiting the in-laws (Easington). I've recently sold my Amiga and all the hardware etc. However I've still got loads of magazines and coverdisks, as well as a box full of games I've not sold yet.

If you fancy getting a ready made collection of magazines and coverdisks, and if you're interested in some of my games, I can chuck them in the car on the way down from Edinburgh.

Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Cheers,
AndyC

Your story sounds a lot like mine. I was president of our local Amiga group and BBS co-sysop which ran on a vintage Amiga 1000. The group dwindled to a few and although a couple of us still hang out from time to time, a PC became my main computer. My Amiga interest sparked again recently and fortunately I had kept some in storage. Good to see you here!
