Rare Amiga item for auction
« on: November 08, 2009, 10:58:07 PM »
This http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Slot-Covers-for-Commodore-Amiga-2000-3000-T-4000-T_W0QQitemZ280411020633QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4149cc9d59

must be really rare, as I have never seen them auctioned before.

Why do some people think they can sell anything just because it is put on eBay?  Makes me want to deal with this seller right away.:furious:
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Sorry to those of you who actually thought you were going to see something interesting.  I try not to post too many stupid threads here and waste your time and Wayne's bandwidth, but that auction just takes the cake for stupidity!

By the way, when are we going to hear from the new owner of A.org?  Just thought about it since I mentioned "Wayne's bandwidth".  I know the purchase price would require some time to complete the paperwork and transfer of funds, but it seems like it has been 2 or 3 months and that should have been enough time to complete.

Does anyone have any news on the new owner of A.org, or was it already discussed and I missed it (highly unlikely)?

I wondered the same kind of thing, but did not want to say it, just in case the seller is a member here.  It was the first time I had visited the Amiga section of eBay for a long time (I am too poor now to visit there often anymore :roflmao:), but the prices for most of the auctions seemed high to me.  It they are really selling at those prices, I need to put all of my Amiga collection on eBay tomorrow and buy a new house with the money I make from all the sales.

As part of the Hyperion vs Amiga Inc. settlement, Amiga.org has been taken over by Amiga Inc.

Hyperion and Amiga Inc. have agreed to operate the site on a pro-rata basis.  In return, all frequent visitors of Amiga.org will receive a T-shirt, £100 coupon, and a risk-free no obligation 30-day trial version of their popular "Tip calculator" program*.  The first 10 people to register the program win an A3 sized photograph of Fleecy Moss`s arse on a blue lit background.

So in essence, regular users to A.org get nothing of any value from Amiga Inc.

No change there then

But look at how few things are being bid on! There are a select few things that will bring top dollar, much other stuff goes pretty cheap - or not at all.

Ebay bugs me because I'd really like to get a classic amiga machine again, something with an accellerator, internet capable and perhaps a rtg card.

I have a dedicated amiga emulation pc, which is nice, but not the same...

I've been looking on and off on there for a few months and the prices are ridiculous at times. Hopefully if I keep looking, I will find something at a decent price. I'd really like an a4000 desktop.
