loadmodule/extractmodule - Missing?
« on: November 06, 2009, 03:37:30 PM »
Hi All,

I'm new to the forums so please be gentle :)

I resurrected my A4000 recently. It's a pretty stock system, however I do have  a 250gig IDE drive in it, and I am trying to apply the patches so the OS can see the true drive size, as well as make larger partitions.

Anyhow, I can't even get to the point to try patching, because the loadmodule.lha which I am told to download from aminet, is supposed to have extractmodule in it. Yet it does not.

I've been searching all around for this issue, and can't find answers so maybe I am missing something? I even see screen clips of people extracting it with the directory for Extractmodule, but mine fails.

I've drive both lha e and lha x and all thats in the acrhive is 3 files. It even shows just the 3 files on the breakout on aminet.

So, if someone can point out what I am doing wrong, I would really appreciate it :)

Hello and welcome!!

You are doing nothing wrong. ExtractModule is not in the LoadModule.lha archive from Aminet. What you can do is download util/boot/PatchRam.lha from Aminet. It contains the ExtractModule file as can be seen here.

I don't know if ExtractModule is available in a distribution of its own. I got it from that archive.

Regards,
Efrén

Extractmodule is a bit difficult to handle. You should rather use romupdatesplit. It's in the Blizkick archive. It extracts only the modules for your Amiga model and it automatically gives them the right names.
