Yeah I wish that just take this vapourware off their site already!

BTW CloneA is already out (at least in part!).
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

What what ????  :-o

Actually, during my trip to Europe, i had the chance of visiting some places (Poland was among one of the countries i visited for quite a few days)

I stayed in some cities. I even stayed a couple of days in the same city where Elbox is located (Krakow)

Had the chance to talk with many (more than 10/15) heavy Amiga users (former Amiga users, active Amiga users, etc) about SharkPPC and some other stories.

They gave me a lot, and i mean a lot of info, which i considered very good, with very good resources and actually very strong to believe.

I should ask for permission, without saying their names of course, to try to describe the best possible, all what they told me about the "Truth & Myth about Elbox, SharkPPC, Dragon and some other tale stories"

:roflmao:

From my humble point of view, its a pity that they didnt came up with actual hardware, since many of us were eager to get them. Instead, they rushed to make announcements of vapourware, trying to get hold of the last Amiga users willing to buy almost anything in order to keep their machine up to date (At least, im talking for myself here, but if somebody feels like me, then you can tell it here, without being ashamed of).

And they proved to be "good" at producing some good hardware (like Mediator or the Elbox Tower, or the Power Flyer), despite all the Chris Hodges-Spider USB affair.

I had many dreams, and reading trough back issues of all the Amiga british mags, i can recall even a portable A1200 (P.A.W.S 1200 was its name).
I even was ready to buy it from Software Hut, during my short trip/visit to USA when i went there after Argentina´s collapse in 2001.

I ended up only buying a mini-trackball from P.A.W.S, which is very very cool indeed, and i still use it whenever i can.

Not that i have anything against Elbox, but, in some ways, they disappointed me. A lot. And i still have to send them thousands of mails every time i request a single update software , either for a Mediator, a Power Flyer or a Eide device. I know, i know, they have veeeery strong antiSPAM policies, but sometimes you end up feelikn kind of frustrated, right?

Anyway, i insist. I dont want to be considered a troll here, or star a "war", but i consider that all truth shall arise, and be said once for good, so we can put an end on all the speculation about actual hardware/vapourware etc etc produced/not produced by Elbox.

Just that

Well speaking about hardware that never made it past the prototype stages for one reason or another:

NatAmi by the NatAmi Team

and the list could go on forever...

But the natami is still being worked on, progress is still regularly posted on the official website with photographic evidence? That's not vapourware.
A1200 Computer Combat. OS3.0. No accelerator, no fastram, mouse soon. And ebaying it.

@Hell labs

My goal is not to hurt your feelings and kill your hopes, but like i said, none of those projects has left the prototype stages and unluckily are bound to stay that way. In other words for how long has the manufacturers/designers of those stuff been promising that the sale will start?
Lets be reasonable, work has been done in most of these projects, but reality shows us, they never left the prototype stage, i dont deny how cool could that be.

@gavilan

I dont see your problems with Elbox, if you properly send them the registration code they ask for, they dont even take a day to send the drivers thru email. Another thing is that they are not an ethically correct company, fact which i agree. I still find it disturbing that they added malicious code on their spider driver and i find it disgusting the fact that you have to pay them to get drivers for the hardware you bought from them (yes, no more free upgrades for mediator users, you need to buy the MMCD)

@All

But that is the way we Amiga users are now: some of us holding on wishfull hardware projects, others trapped by companies we dont like, just because they are our only alternative.
I hope some day we end this vicious circle!
