Hello from Rome
« on: October 30, 2009, 03:29:49 PM »
Hi amiga brothers, I've decided to register me finally!:)
I'm an amiga lover since 1992, when I saw for the first time an amiga I have drooled like a dog :roflmao:
I`m into classic amiga gaming and I would want to buy a next-gen amiga, then I've purchased a sam-flex @800 + Amiga Os4.1, now I am very happy to spend many hours to configure and use os4.1 programs, games and so on.
I have these others amiga systems:
Amiga 500 + 512 kb fastmem
Amiga CDTV
Amiga 600
Amiga 1200 + mtec 030 with 4mb fastmem
Amiga CD32

I'm sure that you could advise me some programs for os4.1, I have already installed directory opus, tunenet, amigaamp, owb (the new version), amiupdate, wookiechat, sabremsn and lately yesterday amicygnix that I don't know how it works (I must read some manual).

I'm not very friendly with english language, than sorry in advance if I write in wrong or strange english language;)

Ciao :)

Welcome ArcadeHeart!

I wonder how many users out there are following the forums but are not registered? I was in that case for maybe a couple of years until I finally decided to join.

Hi ArcadeHeart!

There WAS a reason to drool on the Amiga 20 years ago.
On this os4 sort of clone, at most you can piss on it, just like a dog! :)

@0amigan0: I think he's already got a SAM & OS4.1... you just insulted a new member and his decision to purchase a very slick piece of kit. :-(

@ArcadeHeart: Welcome! Nice collection of stuff you have there. As you know, Amiga has been kept alive (some would say on life support) and exists in many incarnations. I just bought an Efika system with MorphOS and already want to upgrade to something like you have or a MacMini now that they've completed the port. lol  The Amiga habit is hard to break and luckily, seems never ending with all the new products available for it all the time.

very ignorant comment! Amiga OS4.1 is no clone mate and I do many productive and fun things on my Sam flex@800....looking forward to the soon to be released OS4.1.1 and OS4.2 !

Hi and welcome!

I'm sure that you could advise me some programs for os4.1, I have already installed directory opus, tunenet, amigaamp, owb (the new version), amiupdate, wookiechat, sabremsn and lately yesterday amicygnix that I don't know how it works (I must read some manual).

I'd recommend the following programs:

Warpview, a fast picture viewer with HW accelerated zoom and rotation
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=graphics/viewer/warpview.lha

MPlayer, a good video player
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=video/play/mplayer.lha

ClipDown, a tool to view videos from Youtube and other sites using MPlayer, requires wget
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=utility/filetool/clipdown.lha

Transmission, a Torrent client with a nice GUI
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=network/p2p/transmission.lha

AmiDVD, a simple DVD burning tool
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=utility/misc/amidvd.lha

Cranu, an archiver with GUI
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=utility/archive/cranu.lha

Other nice programs are (if you're into music) Milkytracker and Hivelytracker, XMame, FFMpegGui for VideoCD MPG creation and video conversion in general.

What problems are you having with AmiCygnix?
