What version of Firebird?  Moz 1.5 is fine with autologin (I assume you mean by that that it fills out your user/pass details, and you hit login?) here.

Cyberus -

Was actually in private emails to various people (wayne included), and the reason I've only got a couple of posts to my name (though I've had various ppl post stuff for me) is because it took me so long to work out what was wrong.

I just find it annoying that everyone seems to get up on their high horse and say "it must be your browser", when many ppl (myself included) are using mozilla, which is about the most standards compliant browser out there...

Then there are the people who think it's down to cookies, even after you've said that everything else works ok (yahoo, ann, webmasterworld, etc) - and if you believe them then it's got to be a bug in the server code, doesn't it??? (obviously it's not, but you get my point)

In the end I tried re-registering, and eventually worked out that it worked with Norton off, the only things Norton was blocking appeared to be images, so I put in a rule to let everything from amiga.org through (argh!!! now I'm going to get spammed ;-P)

I probably should have said something about covering ppl's ears rather than the other end, but since it took me over 6 months to actually get on here properly (since my miggy died) I was quite rightly annoyed that so many comments on here were about cookies again...

Fair enough, but none of the posters on this thread were 'getting up on our high horses' and saying "it must be your browser". I feel a little aggreived when offering advice, even if it turns out to be wrong, if I get attacked for my trouble...

I understand that you might be annoyed but I think some of your comments were a little unwarranted.

Yes but I was not one of the people to whom you'd said "everything else works ok " previously, am I?

Maybe you were annoyed, maybe quite rightly, but were you 'quite rightly' rude? Things irk me too, but I don't find some random person to take it out on...
It would be like having your house robbed and going and beating up someone random in the street, shouting at them that they'd stolen the last thing ever given to you by your mother, while they stood there incredulous...

I mean, in Win2K IE6 keeps my session until next time I visit amiga.org so I don't have to log on at all, but with Moz Firebird I have to press "Login" every time I come to the site.

Not a major problem, but still annoying sometimes since I'm used to being logged in when I come to the site and want to start posting :-)

@kees

maybe you should provide a link or a suggestion of turning of your firewall when there is an incorrect/unsuccessful login?

I tend to ignore the login window and open a thread straight away from the front page, then you'll find that the cookie saying you're still logged in kicks in.  Provided you visit this site often enough :-)
