WB 2.4 vs 8Gb CF...

Maybe It's a stupid question but... Is It possible to install WB 2.4 on a 8Gb CF?
I tried to do so. First of all, I partitioned the CF into two 4Gb (a bit less) partitions with HDtoolbox with success, but when I tried to format a partition the format tools said that there was no disk in drive (WTF???)
Can anybody say me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

P.D.: I tried It on my A600 and on winuae... same result...

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will jump in here but I think your partitions have to be smaller than 2gig.

Have a look at exactly which version of Kickstart ROM you have. 37.175 has no scsi device support, so that probably isn't the one you have. 37.300 has, but will not work with drives over 40MB. Make sure you have at least 37.350.

Well... I have to check It... But I was using a 256Mb CF until now...

Good God!

 Never use an over-4Gb HD or CF with anything than OS3.5 onwards!

 Workbench 2.04 have the same support for large drives as Workbench 3.0/3.1: 4Gb with partitions not over 2Gb each.

 If you use anything over 4Gb the over-the-border partition will overlap and erase the first 4Gb (typically overwriting the HD/CF RDB).

Nah... wasn't a stupid question at all. Some of us have spent entire days/weeks trying to get these things to work on our old Miggies. Not me though... never! lol

@rkauer: LMAO at the large 0 there!!  

...btw: on my A500, I do have a partition larger than 2gb (2.5gb to be exact) on my 4gb card and it works without fail now for the last few months. You can get 3.1 to play nicely with larger than 4GB drives and partitions, but you have to add the NFS file to Devs, edit its file to suit your interface, place a command line in startup-sequence and perform an Indian Rain Dance.

In fact, using a file system other than FFS will open some possibilities, but for FFS 2GiB is the absolute maximum for each partition.

 SFS (on machines with 020 or better CPU, freeware) or PFS (professional file system, COMMERCIAL) are some of a few candidates. FAT32 can be used but not to store Amiga files (only music, pictures and compressed archives), for example.
