Floppy disks to CF card
« on: October 20, 2009, 08:27:24 PM »
Hello everybody.

I just got me an A1200 and I am wondering if (and how) its possible to copy my old floppies directly to an CF card and run them from there like if it was still a floppy. I have like thousands of floppies from old times and it would be easier to store them in an 4GB+ CF card :)

I tried to just drag an drop in WB, but that doesnt seem to work...

Hope someone can help :)

Get a copy of WHDLoad from http://www.whdload.de and all will be good.

Thanks, It looks like the thing I need so I downloaded it :) But I cannot get the files to show on my Amiga. Is there any special way I have to copy the files to the CF card that I use on the A1200?

Use DMS to make disk images to the CF card. It also works with NON dos disks, but the disk mustn't have a copy protection.

Except WHDLoad, you also need a installation script of the game.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply :) Using WHDload seems pretty straigthforward, but I dont get how to install the program itself on the Amiga. Maybe I am just stupid, but this is all new to me :S I just tried to unzip the files for them WHDload archive to the CF and then run the install from there on the Amiga, but it doesn't seem like thats the way to do it :p

---

I could read the WHDLoad package from my CF card, but when double clicking on "install" I get the message "Unable to open your tool "installer"". I found out I need "installer43_3", but I dont know how to get it available... I think I need some more help :S
