Check the orientation of the rom chips. I vaguely remember a purple screen on my 3000T when I switched to 3.1 roms.

Well I moved the J350 to pins 2-3, no tick... same results.  Checked ROMs and chip orientations everything is as it should be.

So you did say that you tried starting the computer with the scsi cable unplugged from the motherboard?  Doing that can eliminate a whole area of possible problems.

Yeah, I tried without scsi connected... the cpu is probably done. (I'm guessing) I have other projects I've been falling behind on. Maybe sometime down the road I'll try getting this machine working again!  Thanks!

If you have an A2091 laying around, try swapping the WDC SCSI chip with the 3000T, that will at least eliminate that possibility.  My 3000T has flaky SCSI as well (no purple screen though)

Gave that a whirl.. didn't make a difference.  Also had a couple WDC scsi chips I also swapped out.  I noticed around the CPU what looks like residual buildup between the pins, I tried cleaning and blowing it out, but still remains.  Almost looks like the pins may have fused!  Tried another workaround with a G-Force 40 in the the CPU slot (figured this would bypass the 60830 on Mobo) but alas, the same purple screen!!  I'm stating to hate "purple"...

Time to clean the motherboard in the most drastic way: toss it inside the dishwasher in ecological cycle and let it dry for a week in a ventilated cupboard, them assemble it again.

Nah, I had swapped out the Rom's at first (no difference).. dishwasher treatment sounds interesting, do I have to worry about streaking??
