Maybe thay will now join forces with AROS and Team MorphOS ;) To unite the community once again under the name of Amiga :D

What makes you think this? Try to remember how things were before the lawsuit. If anything this will only further drive the OS4 camp away from the classic, AROS and MOS camps. After all, OS4 is "teh TRUE Amiga" with this settlement and now the Amiga name can once again be brandished against all others who are merely "Amiga-like".

Have they even been working on the next generation of AmigaOS past 4.x? I havent heard anything or seen anything to state they have. I can toss up a powerpoint and say all sorts of great things too. I hope for the sake of the future that they do something with this new power they just got.

Notice on http://ftp.hyperion-entertainment.biz/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=1&Itemid=18 that Hyperion Entertainment CVBA has the settlement not Hyperion Entertainment VOF.  Hyperion's under a different legal status.

Yes.
VOF   = general partnership (or: ordinary partnership); Besides company and associates, partners are liable with their private property; bankrupsy of the company can result in bankrupsy of the partners

CVBA = limited liability company; at least one founder required, minimum capital 18.550 €, associates just liable up to their partner share

(I hope I worded it half way correctly)
All the best,

It doesn't work that way in the Amiga world, this is a novel society and when I think novel I mean William Golding and his charming novel about life on a small island.  The Amiga community is a lot like that....

They say no news is good news,  never the case in Amigaland ;)

Look forward to seeing what becomes of the AOS now that Hyperion have alittle more freedom.

It means that Moana is legal should they decide to continue with it.

They did not win, they settled with Amiga Inc with a new agreement.  Thanks to a Moo linking to a  /. article about the settlement, I see that Haynie posted his thoughts: http://news.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1409045&cid=29796239

Ah, what could have been with Dave Haney at the helm, he had a vision and an understanding of what must be done to succeed.  Yep, what we have here is not so much a battle for the ship but a battle for the life boat, and they agreed that one part gets the boat and the other one the oars.

Strictly speaking, they did not win. But they managed to win control over the OS, so that is a win for them.

Not so sure it's a win for Amiga fans, however... not as long as Hyperion is fixated on PPC.

The only winning Amiga fans will be doing is if they get over to eBay and grab some great old Amiga gear!
3 Commodore file cabinets, 2 Commodore USB turntables, 1 AmigaWorld beer mug
Alienware M14x i7 laptop running AmigaForever

Good read, if not a disparaging one. I disagree about AmigaOS being too far behind to be relevant though. I thought that was very shortsighted of him. We all know what's possible when you combine talent, money and other incentives. Great strides can be and are often literally created over night in this industry. When not, that's what "service packs" are for. lol
