A1200 RAM accelerator
« on: November 06, 2003, 11:16:12 PM »
I know that this won't be relevant to most of the members on this site as you generally seem to have pretty high-end Amigas.  Anyway, I am selling an Amitek Hawk 1220 accelerator for the A1200 without FPU but WITH 8Mb RAM included on e-Bay.  The auction ends tomorrow and the link is as follows:  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3056733542

Although listing says post to UK only, I will post to other countries.  Please be aware, though, that postage charge would likely be upwards of £10.

Just thought I would put this on incase anyone was interested!

Neil

Sorry, I have a military spec 68040 here, no need for A1220.
But on Epay you'll find someone who can make use of that expension for shure.

@ OP

It'll do okay on ebay - Amiga stuff always seems to be particuarly susceptible to 'ebay madness'

Cheers,

Yeah, with a bit of luck.  Just got another A1200 for a spare, so part of me wishing I hadn't put it on!

Why does this Ram accelerator need a utility disk for? It's only Ram! Blizzard 1230/1240 doesn't need one!

@cu_amiga

Probraly because it puts it's RAM in the old Z2-space (all a 68EC20 can address),
and this will end in the need to switch of the PCMCIA-slot to get above 4mb.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

It doesn't need a utility disk, it just came with one for the sake of it.  All it does is "test" RAM and report one error if over 4Mb (supposed to take 8) - bizarre.   I have tried about 7 different 8Mb SIMMs with it and all apparently have same error at same memory address.  I asume it is just a gimicky program but who knows.
