Forcing a CV64/3D to use Zorro II in an A4K
« on: November 06, 2003, 04:25:08 PM »
The subject says it all really. Still trying to get my Cybervision 64/3D working in my Buster 09 A4k. Is there any way to force it to use Zorro II rather than III? I can't see any jumpers on the board.

Thanks in advance.

I've run a picassoIV & and CV64/3D in an A4000D with a rev 9 buster not a problem. but bear in mind this was on an 030 CPU card, and then a Cyberstorm2 040.

never an A3640 CPU board.

in all honesty, try to get a better board like a cyberstorm or something, as the phase5 cards have some code in their firmware which allows them to emulate 030 data burst cycles, so allowing access to chip ram to run at full speed, and most zorro3 issues to be cleared up.

only really need a rev11 buster chip if you have an early zorro3 card that has trouble as a bus mastering device, or if you have a huge zorro extender board (one of these 7 slot things), as the rev11 chip pumps out stronger timing signals to the bus leading to busmastering cards being able to sync properly and disconnect from the bus when they have finished their data xfer. all fun and games.

the A3000 only had a rev9 buster, and never had any issues...

for the love of god, don't try to switch the CV64/3D into zorro2 mode and try to run 68KquakeGL. or you'll just get a very pretty slide show.  :-D

but if you really really want to run it in Z2 mode, there is a pair of pins on the board that will force it to autoconfigure in Z2 mode with a jumper across them. not the block of 8-9 pins on the front, the block of 10 pins near the back, or the thing that looks like an IDE connecter next to the chip. i can't remember where this pair of pins is, but i think its near the zorro connector.... :-)

A500, A600, A1200x3, A2000, A3000, A4000 & a CD32.
and probably just like the rest of you, crates full of related "treasure" for the above XD

That sounds like the kind of thing i'm after. Does anyone know which pair of pins I need out of those 10? I don't want to use trial and error!!

I don't see why you want to force the CV3D into Z2 mode. I had an A4000, Buster9, 3640, CV3D config and it worked perfectly so I belive there are other issues to why it's not working.

@dandelion

i don't know wich CPU card you own, but the CV643D, works only if the mobo clock, is at 25 Mhz.

Sometimes, with a 030 or a 040 CPU in ZorroII mode (but this is not your situation) you should install Enforcer (present in the P5 install disk).
