FS: CSPPC 060/233 -PPC side non-functional
« on: October 06, 2009, 05:33:44 PM »
I'm selling my spare CSPPC 060/233Mhz card, which unfortunately the PPC side no longer works. It does however run perfectly as a CSMKIII, no stability issues unless PPC drivers installed!

I've been using the clips from another CSPPC to secure the PPC heat-sink, so any prospective buyer will need to find a replacement. The card hasn't been looked at, so the PPC may be repairable.

Asking price is £250, or best offer.

To potential buyers: Don't send it to the French Amiga Center for service.

Well if you want him to belittle you into sending it in for repair with the promise of a pre-diagnosis, only to have him start repairing it without asking go ahead. Immediately, moving it from a 50E diagnosis to 240E repair.

Then tell you to get the board back you have to pay for the repair. On top of that he didn't have the skills to fix it, so it ends up being an 060 only card with no-RAM, SCSI, PPC all for a price that would have let you buy a working used 060 card.

You'll get the added bonus of being treated rudely. Anyone want to buy an 060 cyberstorm with no ram, scsi or ppc for 240E?

Hi All,

I have a CSPPC 060/233 card where the PPC side does not work, but the 060 works flawlessly.  My A4000 won't boot up when I install more than one SIMM module on the card.

Any ideas?

@Marien have you had a chance to chat your friend from Czech Republic if he can repair these boards?

Cheers,
Chris

I'm surprised it works at all with only one simm - memory on the CSPPC has to be installed in pairs.

Could be a broken address/CAS/RAS line, dying CPLD, non-working transceiver, etc, etc. the memory issue may be totally unrelated to the dead/dying PPC side, or it may be part of the same problem.

IME Amigacentre do some basic checks - testing the oscillators, flashrom and large capacitors, testing that the clock signal is reaching the 060.
50Euro postage is a bit steep imho, a bit cheeky to charge that much when offering supposedly "free" diagnostics.

Have never had a personal problem with JJB though - he was happy to answer questions about the diagnostics which he had performed.

Hi @ck007,
I've received the card few weeks ago already, but only today had a chance to install it in my A4000.
060 part working without problem as you mentioned.

Thank you very much for this deal!
