Greetings,
For the past 3 days, the rains was at it's worse! Local Meteorologist reported 475mm of rain devastated the province of Rizal in the span of 24 hours! Comparing the intensity of a month's continous rainfall of 425mm! But, to my experience, it was only in a span of 9 hours. Which is incredibly unusual. International name "Ketsana" or locally the typhoon's name was "Ondoy" davastated most of Marikina, Pasig, and Calabar region in the province of Rizal.
My family was not directly affected. Our place is elevated from the floods, but it caused alot of ulitility interruption, though. Power was restored a day after, but at the moment, there weren't still any water due to the demand in the lower areas. We were able to store potable water before the rains began so no worries for that. Water from the faucet was a little brown-ish, and not drinkable. Good for washing only.
Here is the link for more details....There were water coming out from the floor of the basement where all my Amigas were stored. Thank goodness, we were able to control it. Declogging the drainage with leaves and mud outside the house. The street outside was like a wild river rushing down. I was not able to go to the office that day.
I went out to investigate the situation, and needed to buy some bread. When I got to Masinag(the corner of Marcos Hightway and Sumulong Highway), It was a picture of total Chaos! Hundreds of vehicle stranded for almost 24 hours. I parked the car for awhile to investigate. Masinag is a little elevated from the flood almost a few meters going westward. Most of the Marcos Highway is submerged chest high water! Most of the establishments there were devastated, estimated millions of pesos worth of damages!
I was able to buy some warm bread, but the experience of chaos is indescribable! I was very thankful my family is safe from harm.
