Amiga IR devices ????

Is there any amiga software to make use of serial IR receivers?  i remember an old CU Amiga article about controlling your bedroom via a homemade IR receiver on ur amiga. years ago but cant remember anything about it, other than the topic :-(

Also any way to use IR keyboards and mice on the amiga?

what useful piece of hardware do i need to use a PS/2 mouse on my amiga1200? ihave a chunky keyboard adapter for my amiga and a an adapter for that to make it accept PS/2 keybaords. but cant see anything on the net for mice on the amiga.

any help pls; :-)

has mouse adapters that supports up to 5 buttons with scroll wheel. Has built in joystick switcher/passthrough small about an inch long $38.00 have them in stock. Software only needed if you want to use more than three buttons and or the scroll wheel send email or call 8AM to 8PM EST. for more info
also have keyboard adapters that actually work properly and MAP US keycodes correctly.

just plug the IR reciever into your PS2 mouse and keyboard adapters for it to work,. I recommend RF mouse and keyboards instead of IR.

Regarding the IR tranceiver, I gather you're talking about the AirLink project that CU Amiga magazine did ages ago?

They gave a blank PCB away with one issue, which you could use to build the IR tranceiver.
It was very simple and worked really well.  Though I redesigned and improved it for what I was using it for, but that's another story :-)

There was free software for it called InfraRexx.  It had an IR code editor/setup prog and an Arexx port which you could interface other programs to.

So with some Arexx scripting, in theory you could use any IR remote control to control Songplayer, or any program with an Arexx port.

You could also send codes as well, to control TVs, VCRs, CDTV, etc, etc.

I've been using a wireless USB mouse/keyboard combo and it's been real nice to control AMPlifier etc. from my bed while reading a book

However, I suggest not to use IR, because it's severely limited to visual contact, but use some of the radio based wireless adapters.

If you have a mediator, there are drivers for the IR receiver on Hauppauge WinTV cards on my website. You can control anything that has an ARexx port with it.

Well, if you have an Airlink, that is a transceiver that can send as well as receive IR signals. It can control anything you have a config file for; Stereos, TVs, whatever.

Think I can add something to this thread:

I use one of the CU AirLink devices that I built myself, and I have to say its quite a good little toy :-). Using the IfraRexx software I created a rexx script to work with most of the mp3 players I use, so I can set my amiga off playing mp3's (Ideally using AmigaAMP, with NeonBars plugin), throw myself on my bed and using one of those multiremotes control the mp3 player with it. I have it setup to control prety much everything on the mp3 player and its great. On mine I dont even have to aim it at the reciever, bouncing off the walls works too :-).

I also use my AirLink to control my TV, I have a little GUI I run on the workbecnch with buttons, and with the click of a button my TV channel changes on my 15" TV, or the volume changes etc... This works, but my AirLink is weak at transmitting so the AirLink is placed right in front of the TV's IR reciever. Im not sure if that was a design fault or a #### up on my behalf... Anyway, it works and its a cool little toy, esspecially if your a bit of a kid at hart and a g33k :-D

I have enjoyed using this alot. I have scanned in my remote's and created buttonbanks in Dopus5 that looks like a "real" remote. Because of the nice arexx-support in InfraRexx, there is no limits to what you can do

My "plan" was one day beeing able to phone home and with the help of STFax4/InfraRexx be able to remotly program my VCR to record
