Is it me, or does nobody comment on gallery images any more?

I stopped commenting for two reasons:

1. There is no notification of new posts. I posted all over the place after the site change, but without notification I can't see if somebody replied to my post. I tried searching for the images I posted on, got tired, bored and gave up.

2. You can't see image comments when not logged in. I usually browse without being logged in (if I'm at a different computer) and if I don't see any comments, I have much less incentive to post.

1) I can't do much about that one.

2) All you guys had to do was ask.  Image comments should now be viewable by all.

I'm not going to address the whole "site sucks" thing any more.  It doesn't.  In fact, it's 10x more usable than it was before.

What sucks is people's resistance to change, and there really are people out there so upset over moving away from 2001 Xoops that they actively, or at least mentally refuse to accept change in any fashion.

The problem is, the world has moved on from 1999 web technology, and those who can't accept that are only going to get more disappointed in the future.

I love the image gallery and check it out almost every time I log in :-) reminds me I have to submit some pics of my new Sam setup when I get the chance

You should not be so narrow sighted that you assume people do not comment because they wont accept change, that is not how internet habbits works.

In a way, you need to view traffic as customers (even though you do not make money on us), first task is, why do you want traffic on amiga.org?

Let us assume, (that partly), you want traffic on amiga.org because you want users to upload images other users can comment on.

In the situation we have right now, the earlier version from 2001 was better suited to that objective - to get users to upload images and to get users to comment images, I can only speak for myself, one of the reasons I posted images was to read comments. Now I tried it once and got zero comments so I am not likely to be so eager to upload images as often as before.

So in order to adapt the site to suit your customers better (if we asume that you want the gallery to grow both by uploaded images and commented images) the gallery part needs rework to make it more appealing for visitors to use it again.

That has got nothing with peoples resistance to change, or people upset over the move to the new system, it is just the way it is.

Isnt it great that amiga.org have users that can give you this input for free on how amiga.org can be improved to better suit the community?

Yup, they show up, now, even when not logged in.  Thanks!    

BTW, the new site is great...  I think the majority of the people found everything ok, and went on happily.  Of course, no one thinks to comment that they found everything ok.  People only think to comment when they DON'T find everything ok...  Feedback is lopsided, that way.  It shouldn't be used to measure the success of changes.

Precisely. I like to trawl through them now and again and see what humorous remarks people have left.

Having everything delivered to your door by notification is boring
