You need 030s? I have an 030/25 and a 030/40, plus a bunch of crystals. Just figure out what else you need before you make the drive again :-D

To lorddef:

I personally do NOT use the 68040 processor.  They tend to over-heat and are not reliable enough for me.  The 68030, 68050, and 68060 are better processors, the 68030 being the highest quality and best built of all the 68000 Series.  The 68010, 68020, and the military-spec 68000 are also high quality, very well made processors.  Sorry, but the 68040 is the worst of all the 68000 Series processors, so I do not need the ones you are selling.  I have a 68040 board that I want to trade for the Commodore 68020 or 030 board.     :-D

68050?  :-?  You have to share some of that stuff you're smoking.

That said, the 68040 isn't bad.  It's much more powerful than the 68030 but they do run a bit hotter.  Although, I wouldn't say they overheat because a standard passive cooler will cool them just fine.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Umm, did you pull this one straight out of your ***?  What facts do you have to back this up?  I agree that a chip with fewer transistors would be more reliable in general.  But, we're talking years of advancing technology that would assume the newer chips are made better than the old ones?

In general, newer stuff is LOWER quality then the older stuff.  For example, look at todays modern cars.  They are made out of plastic and tin.  They are low quality pieces of crap, and yet most people are stupid enough to buy them.  Why pay $15,000 to $30,000 for a new car, when you can buy a high quality car or truck from the '50s and '60s for a lot less money.  Then you would have a vehicle to really be proud of, like me.  I only drive nice old cars.  Todays modern cars and trucks SUCK !!!!  In the same way the older processors are actually nicer then the newer ones.  They may not be as fast, but they will out-work and out-last any newer processor.  Today most people are always in a hurry.  I myself am NEVER in a hurry.  I take my sweet time and live life to the fullest.     :-D

But you said it's much more reliable and spouts out much less heat than an 040, surely if you know this then it must exist?

DoomMaster, why do you do this?

DoomMaster knows all, the knowledge of the 68050 being a possible upgrade of the 68040 is warrent enough for all to hail him as the new king.

I actually love his posts, as its like a familiar sight on my way to work.

so these processors worth buying?

im currently putting 2 A1200s in custom cases and hoping to boost up the one that just has the 8Mb ram and fpu accelerator thingy doodah.

i really want a 1260. anyone got any for sale? i dont see the point of going PPC as im gonna get a pegasos II. anyone gonna comment on the reasons behind why i should go for AmigaOne rather than Pegasos?
:-D i will hide as these worms may be squirming out of this can.

ideal world i would have both, but AmigaOne prices r still rather high
